Just wondering if it''s too late to get a good price on my used/broken gold items. There are still commercials on TV in my area of jewelry stores who are still buying but I think the price has come down and now I wonder if it''s worth the time and gas to take the items from store to store to get the highest offer. The one I contacted said they do not quote over phone or email--the items must be seen in person.

Never send your stuff to the people who advertise on the TV for you to send them your gold! Our local TV station did that. They took the gold to 2 different local jewelers, to get a weight and a price quote, and then sent the same items off to one or 2 of these places. The locals gave them much more than the scam artists on the TV. Go to your local jeweler and see what they say, or go to a couple and see. I have been thinking about doing that too, or just having a plain gold band made out of mine.

If you buy from a jeweller on-line a lot of them will take your scrap for credit toward your purchase. I think Wink, one of the jewellers on here, does it. It''s worth asking some of the others if you plan to buy anything from them soon.
