I have a diamond ring which I would like to get the diamond removed and then sell the setting. Should I first get the setting appraised?
It is a platinum setting w/ a four prong head. It has two tapered baguette cut diamonds that are approximate total weight of 0.17 carats. The baguettes have an average apparent color grade of "G-H" and an average clarity grade of "VS". They are a bar set. ( I got this description from the appraisal that includes the diamond.)
Question - This was made by a local jeweler. Is it better for me to go back to him to sell it or go some other route?
