first off, i'm certainly learning a lot about diamonds from this site, so thanks very much to the posters and experts. although, i must admit, i'm feeling a little less than enthused about my lot right now.
at present, i have my ring set from my marriage (we split up in 1999). husband didn't want the ring back, and i'm not really sure what to do with the set. it's a lovely set, however, i don't have a GIA or AGS appraisal for it, just an insurance appraisal from the original jeweler from whom we bought the stone.
i am in a larger market (chicagoland area), which may be helpful. i've considered resetting it as a pendant, or finding a matching stone for some whopper (!!!) earrings, but i'm unsure about wearing it, and future FI doesn't seem to enthused about that either, and i'd like to respect his feelings too.
so if anyone has any advice, or references for chicagoland area for appraisals or possibly selling this set, i'd really appreciate it.
(and also, it's been fun to drool over future possibillities -- there's some amazing jewels on this site!!)
