I guess you are outside the return period. Have you visited the preloved section on here? You could list it on ebay, diamndbistro, or there is another site I cannot remember, and then advertise it over there. From what I am seeing with the other auctions, people seem to be listing at 20% to 30% off retail. You could also consign it to a place like Pearlmans or Erica Grace for a fee.

I can tell you from experience that trying to sell it to your average retail jewelry store, you will be ripped off. I am still kicking myself for selling my diamond ring so cheaply.

Definitely outside the return period...I'd be happy if I could get 6k for it...

Once I am sure it's 'for sale' i'll try listing it a few places.

You won't get 6k. The value of it retail (ignore your inflated appraisal) is 6400 for the stone (http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-SI2-Excellent-Cut-Round-Diamond-1514958.asp) About 1200 for the setting.

And for resale the setting is pretty much worthless. It's too small and not sizable more than 1/2 size since it's channel set. You would either need to throw it in free. Or put it on ebay and see what you can get for it.

So basically you are going to need to sell them separate. Or just throw the setting in.

Either way

6400 x .80= 5,120
6400x. .70= 4,480

So IF You sell it yourself. You can hope for around 5k for it max. Sell the platinum setting for another 250-300 (separately and if you get lucky).

That's what you are looking at.

That's about what i figured...

IF you did buy it from GOG though... see if they will list it for you for consignment and only take a small fee. It's worth and ask and their consignments move.

If you got it from GOG, you may want to see if you can consign it with them. It probably won't be as quick of a sale, but they'll handle all the details.

GOG has a buyback policy, too. Or at least my diamonds from them do. That might be your best and fastest cash-out route. It looks like a nice diamond.

I think maybe Brian Gavin has bought some stones that were not originally from Whiteflash or Brian Gavin.

People on Diamondbistro are always looking for good used semi mounts.
