SHE SAID YES!!

Ok, now that that''s out of the way... we''re planning the wedding.

A quick background: The wedding will probably be in NC next August (we have some time :) ). It will be outdoors, possibly on a beach, or at least near the water on grass. We want it to be simple, but also elegant (no flip flops, etc..., but not formal black tie either)

My fiance wants to do navy blue bridesmaids dresses with seersucker suits for the groomsmen. She also wants to me to wear a seersucker suit as well. Would this look good with the bride''s dress, or is there not enough contrast? Does anyone have any good suggestions. I''ve been thinking we could either do a darker seersucker suit for me (do they even exist? ) A darker seersucker suit for me and the groomsmen. Seersucker for the groomsmen, but I''m in a more formal, dark color suit.

Thoughts, suggestions, any insight would be good. We''re still figuring this out and are open to all thoughts and ideas!! Also pictures would be great... there''s a few older threads on here, but the pictures no longer work (at least on my computer).

Your thoughts, suggestions, and likns are much appreciated!

Congratulations on being engaged!

Seersucker is a "material", and Navy is a "color". I'm not sure what contrast you are referring to?

Seersucker is meant to be a light air'y material... and personally I only like it in white, ivory, or very very light nude. I would not do dark, if it even exists?

Is the wedding going to be outdoors? If it is going to be indoors then I would not go with seersucker, since I imagine garden or beach when I think of the material. (Similar to linen.)

Personally, I like this seersucker: (White with tan pinstripes... exchange tie with one that matches color of BM dress) with summer'y dress like the one below. (imagine it is in Navy)

I like the idea of Seersucker for a beach wedding. She''ll probably have to commit to a WHITE white dress -- no Ivory or Off White or Cream or Pearl or anything. Pretty STARK WHITE is the only thing that will work with Seersucker menswear.

Probably would stick with natural fibers for the bridesmaids dresses also -- something summery & casual -- maybe Navy Cotton Eyelet. Silk is natural but unless its raw silk or a matte finish of some kind it might look too dressy with Seersucker.

The bride''s dress will be okay in a dressier fabric -- as long as its WHITE WHITE WHITE and not too fussy. Seems like you''d be going for a Preppy kind of theme, with maybe some nautical mixed in. That''s going to be best with a bridal dress with clean classic lines & not a ton of sparkle. Simple elegance.

What sort of bride thinks it''s a good idea to put her bridesmaids in Navy in NC in August?

Ditto this whole post.

I really love the idea of seersucker and navy for a summer wedding in NC (but then, I'm just a fan of that whole nautical/preppy look). You could do a navy stripe seersucker suit (like the photo attached) with navy bridesmaids dresses.

I went to a wedding on Martha''s Vineyard that was uber preppy and the bridal party (sans the bride) were dressed in VV. It was really cute!

Um, what''s wrong with that? I personally think it would look great.

I think she meant navy would be too hot for a summer beach wedding in NC. for beach I would also go with lighter colors, and tell the men to quickly get out of their jackets once the photo shoot was done.

and i think he meant seersucker as in the thin navy pinstripes that princess posted. i''ve seen them confused quite often.

and BTW- i LOVE the suit that princess found- that would be so perfect- i can imagine a whole nautical wedding that isn''t too over the top and kitschy.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
I thought there was some weird rule like not wearing white after labor day- maybe not wearing navy in the summer? And then I thought, well who cares! I wear white after labor day!

Anyway, that''s enough out of me

For me... the seersucker with navy pinstripes is way too matchy-matchy with a navy dress.

I also think that a navy dress in the summer is fine, as long as it is a summer dress (for a daytime or outdoor wedding).
