Hello PSer''s!

I am still searching for a diamond and setting that I will enjoy for the next 50 years or so. I was in a mall store (family owned) early this week, and found an amazing setting that I just fell in love with. I also found it on a website from a B&M in Calgary. This is the link: http://www.designjewellers.com/shop/designjewellers/product_info.php?products_id=331

I asked the company for a price of this setting with a 1 ct SI2, I color; the price they quoted was 9800.

Any ideas to find a cheaper ring like this??

i think i''ve seen that setting @ www.helzberg.com
please try other vendors that PS recommends.

I may have some helpful advice for you on this one. If you want to do the tension setting like the one in the picture, you are better off putting the $$$ into it. I say this from experience. When my husband proposed, he picked out a setting very similar to the one you posted. We put a 1ct. round into it, and in a matter 3 months we had taken the ring back 4 times because the diamond kept slipping. It never came out, thank goodness!, but it would begin to tilt forward or backwards. We decided to go with a different mounting as it was too frustrating to keep taking it back to be fixed. Hindsight is always 20/20, and I found out AFTER I got rid of that mounting that there are only like 3 "true" tension setting designers, as in they have mass quantities of training in these types of settings and pretty much guarantee that stone isn''t going anywhere. They are more expensive though. Does anyone remember the designers names for these?? Its slipping my mind at the moment. I hope this helps! There are some lovely settings though that mimic the look of the one you posted that may be a little cheaper but still give you the same effect. Let us know what you decide!!

Is Whitney Boin one of the tension setting designers you were thinking of?

Oh my. Put white gold on the U-prongs, and that is my original e-ring from 25 years ago. Honestly. Mine looked *exactly* like that with a teeny .26ct center stone and 2 pointers (12?) in the under setting. Mine was not tension set, but that is what it looked like, I can''t see any difference. Sorry to be no help. I''m originally from Vancouver, and got the setting at Spence. I''ve actually been looking for pics of my old setting since I had it remade at 5 years into something else, so had been trying to find a vintage pic. Good luck!
