Hi all,

Well, for those that have been following my setting dilemma, here are some updates.

I dropped the ring off almost two weeks ago. This past Tuesday, the vendor got it back and told me that he inspected the ring and was not satisfied with one of the prongs, so he had sent it back. I said to myself, no problem - it's good news because he is taking a closer look.
I was supposed to pick it up today but my FI got a call from the vendor that stopped me dead on. He was told that the one prong is not safe enough and beyond repair. So, after 4 attempts, the vendor suggested to start from scratch and create a new setting. Frustration anyone???? I need a drink pronto...

Since the "new" setting will likely have the thick prongs that prompted the changes, that is how it's made by this vendor, we decided to end this once and for all and just go elsewhere. Hopefully, we will get our money back. Although the vendor is willing to give me a new setting, I think I'm being reasonable in requesting it. My trust at this point is just GONE. If we don't oh well, you win some you lose some. I just want to bring some closure to this whole ordeal.

So here are the condenders:

- Mark Morell Petite Sunburst (with modified, less prominent prongs).
- Leon Mege Classic 4 prong solitaire - He is in NY so it's far more convenient for us.
- Vatche Slim X prong - Mary at GOG will help us out with this one. She is the sweetest lady!!!

The diamond in question is .82 ( 6mm)

So ladies and gents.... Please help me pick!!!!!

Would love to give an opinion....Can you provide links to those settings?

If for some reason the vendor refuses to give you a refund, don''t just eat the loss. Go ahead and have them give you the replacement setting and don''t have your stone mounted. That way you can try to sell it. Someone out there probably wants that setting and would be glad to buy it at a discount?

That''s a hell of an idea... You smart one!

I would go the x-prong or the Leon solitaire either will look yummy me thinks :)

I''d go for the Leon, especially as he''s local. I''m sorry about your setting problems. If you paid for the setting separately via credit card you can also dispute the charge if he won''t give you a refund. Credit cards have their own warranties on merchandise as well, so that''s another option. Take care and I can''t wait till you''ve got your ''real'' setting!

Hi Gypsy,

Thank you for your kindness. As of now, I'm just getting a sad chuckle about it. Gosh, drama follows me whenever I go.

Unfortunately we paid with check. There was a % charge if using a CC so we decided against it. My 'real' setting... yes, one day I will get there. I'm leaning towards the Leon based on the convenience factor. The only thing is that I don't if my stone is too small for any of his settings. Any thoughts?

Deelight, thank you for your opinions. I gather you both are 4 prong gals...

Where are the other PSers... I'm sad about the low response

ETA: I realized the link to the vatche is not good. Here is a pic from another PSer. I'm looking at the version with no pave.

Actually the size of your stone was one of the main reasons I chose the Leon.

The sunburst is lovely, but the prongs can crowd a 6 ish stone a little, IMO. And it's not as delicate as the Leon. I would suggest the torcheire for you, but again the prongs the same.
I had an X-prong with a 6 x 6 (granted it was an asscher, and the setting wasn't a Vatche) and while I ADORE Ellen's X-prong for her stone (ADORE)... I generally think more delicate settings make a stone our size stand out more.
I've seen Leon's work in person and it is so delicate and fabulous, and I've seen it on smaller stones, not just large stones. I don't think he's look down on your stone if that's what your worried about either.

And believe me, I understand and sympathize about drama. ((HUGS)).

Thanks Miss Gyps, and I wholeheartedly agree with you to go Leon, for the very same reason.

And lesco honey, trust me, you have no idea what frustration can mean. lol It''s a long story, which I''''ll post in the future.

I do wish you good luck on all this!

aw lesco, I really hope you can get a refund, under the circumstances it seems the right thing to do based on what you are telling us. I vote for the Leon too.

I vote for Leon. But pick what makes your heart sing, don''t weigh to heavily on the convenience factor.

Gypsy, Ellen and Mssalvo,

I am so glad you all think the Leon setting would be a good match for my little cutie. That is so reassuring. I was a tad concerned given the size of my diamond. I think that''s where I''m heading... I just gotta go across the street where the vendor is and voila - I''m there. To think that the setting is just $400 more that what I paid originally - Gosh.
Ellen - Yes, I got some incline from other posts that you got some issues of your own. I really hope it all works out. This is NO FUN.
Mssalvo - Hope I can get the money back but if not, I''m willing to move forward.

Thank you to all of those PSers who have helped me cope with this whole thing...
In the spirit of my Leon - to - be (hopefully) here is a drink for all the lovely ladies of this forum. Cheers !
