I've been struggling to find a ruby that really WOWs me. I've almost given up on ruby and turned to red spinel but I'd really prefer to find a ruby if possible!
I'm really struggling with finding the right color because I want a highly saturated color without being too dark in tone. Plus with many photos and videos being edited, it's so hard to know what you're getting before you buy something. I really want one of those slightly "velvet-y" rubies with a lighter body color, but while still being red red and not pinkish red.
I recently acquired a ruby that is by far the best I've seen. Can someone sanity check me and let me know if this ruby is truly a top color gem, and I've developed some unrealistic expectations due to photo editing OR if there are rubies out there even more saturated and "glowy"? I can still return this ruby and I DO love it, I'm just afraid of settling and then seeing something later that makes me regret.
Note that this ruby is specifically certified as "Vivid Red- Pigeons blood red" by GIA, is that as good as it gets? My budget is $5k and this ruby is within budget.
