Hi everyone, I am looking for fellow clarity I's owners. Are you disappointed in your diamonds? I just traded in my fancy yellow, cushion cut, 1.16, vs2, for a 1.67, K, I1. I won't have it till next week. So my question is do you regret the clarity and wish you went smaller but better clarity? Would love to see pics:)

This is my I-2. It's a keeper.

Tricky question. My first Ering was visibly included from up to 30cm. It was a 1.5 ct stone. I loved the fact that it was bigger than lots of typical e-rings, but the clarity did bother me over time.

I wouldn't buy a stone that was not eye clean again, but if I went back in time, I probably would still get my initial diamond, as it gave me so much pleasure.

I think you'll know how you feel either way, once you see the stone. Good luck - hope you love it

I had an I marquise. It had one big feather. It wasn't "slutty" or "salt and pepper" just one big feather.

I don't regret it for a second! Sure you could see the inclusion from 6 in to 12in away but I never looked that closely. It wasn't my engagement ring so no one else did either. From arms length you couldn't see anything but how big and sparkly it was. And it was big. I was able to find it on eBay for 800 for a.9ct and the baguette setting.

I am certain that the size made up for the clarity in my mind.

I no longer have it because I gifted it to my mother. She hasnt the best eyesight as you know, that happens with age. She's not blind or anything by any means, but she doesn't even notice the inclusion. All she knows is its the first diamond over 25 points she ever had lol.

Its a personal thing. People can tell you "don't buy an I" but if you took everything into account and felt size, cut, whatever was more important, then that's great. You did your homework and did what was best FOR YOU

the only caveat is that some Is are such because they have structural integrity issues, make sure you have it properly insured.

:)

I have an F I1 and my sisters and I have looked and looked but can't see anything with the naked eyes but with a loop you can see the feather easily.

I have a E-I1 marquise with a grade setting crystal under a bezel facet. Large enough to be seen with the naked eye if you look hard enough but amazingly none of my friends ever noticed it. This diamond is set in a pendant now. Do I regret buying it? No, because we were young and that was all that we could afford at the time.

My thinking on pendants is that since one cannot see them anyway unless standing in front of a mirror, I1-I2 is fine.

You can't just drop that pic and not have a thread for that lovely I've been wanting to see the finished product forever!

Hahaha Niel. Actually I have a not so very funny story about my ring. My husband brought it to me while I was overseas visiting family and my sister and I traded rings for a bit just for fun. Well things got crazy with packing and last minute things and we forgot to swap back so I have her ring and she has mine!!  I can't get it back till we meet again and the earliest will be next year!! I am sooo missing my ring right now and look at her photos when I miss her!! sigh.........

I should clarify that it's a very harshly graded I-2, I could probably get it regraded as an I-1 most any day of the week. On a Friday it might even get an SI-2, but that would be a bit lenient. It's also an amazing cut stone, it's an Eightstar. It's so busy throwing light back at you that you can't see the inclusions.

As long as the inclusions don't pose a threat to safety AND it is eyeclean... I'd be THRILLED with a I clarity stone. I don't believe in paying for more clarity than I need. And I don't need more than safe and clean.

I am jealous of good I clarity stone owners.

I have to admit I have fallen head over heels for several I1s. I love inclusions, they are so cool in my opinion.:))) Ok, maybe that was a bit of an overstatement but there are many things that can be loved about inclusions, they really add to the personality of the stone and you can easily recognize that your stone was not switched, even people outside the trade can with I stones. The main thing is that they should not affect the integrity of the stone and that they are not really visible to the naked eye.

I have a fancy vivid orange a bit over 1 carat that could be easily graded SI2 but most likely it is an I1. You see absolutely nothing with the naked eye, the color is blinding, the cut is great but I have a lot of fun looking at the inclusions with a scope or loupe. This stone has the most personality of all my stones, everything about it is unique which does include the really interesting inclusions.

I have also fallen for colorless I1s before, there was an F I1 pear I really wanted to own but ended up not buying for myself, well, I have to limit myself too. I normally advise people not to buy bellow VS2 if they really want to be safe but with guidance it is safe to buy SI and sometimes even I stones. In colorless RB I really do think that a superb cut will distract enough that not a single person will comment on clarity but how gorgeous the stone is. Best thing is that they are very affordable in the colorless categories (not so much with top colored fancies where clarity is not nearly as important as color but you can still get them at a better price).

Of course I have seen old stones with a honking black crystal under the table, well that, no thank you, bad color, cut and a carbon almost as big as the table but anyone would notice that so that they can pass.

Thanks for your input everyone, I think I'm gonna love it. While I would adore a 2+ D, vs or better, it's just not justifiable to me. We make a pretty good living for ourselves, however I can't bring myself to even consider spending that kind of money on a single stone.

Trust me when I say I've done my research & then some. But ultimately came to the decision that if it eye clean to me, then it's good, if anyone else needs to get that close or use a loop to see flaws, then they are too freakin close, and need to give me my space back:)

But a girl can still drool over all of ya'lls beautiful rings.

Sounds like you made the right choice. Please come back iwtg picture

I have an H I1. It's a little over 1ct. The inclusions definitely hide well. I don't feel any shame, lol. If your new stone is eyeclean enough for you, enjoy it and don't worry about what anyone else says or does. You are correct that diamonds are a luxury item and real-life should take precedence.
