Hi all! I'm a brand new member (but have been lurking for a while now!) and would love to tap into all the expertise here! My boyfriend and I are now the proud owners of a 3 carat round brilliant diamond, D color, SI2 clarity (eye clean), triple excellent cut diamond, and now need to decide how to set it.

I'd like the solitaire to remain the focus of the ring (so probably no halo or three-stone settings), and my boyfriend isn't a fan of pave. So, to increase the bling level a bit more, I'm thinking of either some round stones on the band (something like this: https://www.bluenile.com/engagement...nt-ring-platinum-7-8-carat-total-weight_60977) or emerald cut stones on the band (something like this: https://www.bluenile.com/engagement...ng/emerald-cut-engagement-ring-platinum_62703) - not too dainty, but not so big that they take away from the main diamond. My finger is pretty small (size 4.5), so I probably can only fit 2-3 stones on the band on each side of the center stone.

While I was initially dreaming of a half-eternity for the wedding band, my boyfriend is Jewish, and it is against Jewish tradition to have stones on the wedding band. So my wedding band likely will need to be plain white gold/platinum, and the eternity may need to come later as an anniversary band.

I'd love to hear your opinions, and please share pics of anything similar that you may have!! Thanks so much in advance!!3.01 D SI2 018.JPG

Maybe baguette side stones? Something like this? It’s a classic look and would work well for a petite ring size. https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...ed-baguette-diamond-engagement-ring-item-7101

I actually have a Luna ring with a pear center stone and I love it, But it is pretty “thick”, just depends on your personal taste IMO.

For reference my finger is a 5.5 and my pear is 1.4 ct- big in my real life circle but more modest by PS standards

Thanks, FL_runner. Great suggestion, and your rings are gorgeous!

I actually think the side baguettes will be most comfortable with a large diamond and so classic. Will look great with a plain band.

What kind of wedding band do you want? That may help you determine your setting. I do like the idea of baguettes (straight or tapered) but also I love petite pears with a round or oval!

Thanks, EClove. I will probably do a plain white gold/platinum wedding band…. which makes extra bling on my engagement ring band even more important!
