Hi Forum Members,

I am currently considering a 1.32 E VVS2 Round Brilliant. Unfortunately I do not have a magnified or idealscope image available yet.

I would appreciate your thoughts on the diamond based on the proportions below.

HCA score is 3.9 (yes - acknowledge that ideal range is sub 2.0)

Depth: 62.3%
Table: 57.0%
Crown Angle: 45.5
Crown Height: 15.5%
Pavilion Angle: 41.0
Pavilion Depth: 43.5%
Star Length: 55%
Lower Half: 80%
Thickness: Thin to Slightly Thick 3.5%

Thanks

Hi ggchamps,

The crown angles you listed don't appear to be correct based on all the other measurements. Having said that however it still appears to be a steep/deep combo. I punched in the measurements listed and it is more likely your crown angle would average around 36 degrees with the following ASET. Personally I'd pass on it as it has considerable leakage under the table (and this is assuming spot on Optical Symmetry).

Kind regards,
Rhino

The HCA is extremely useful in narrowing down a selection. You can definitely scratch stones that score over 3. We will always tell you to reject those as Jonathan has shown you the problem with that particular diamond. It is safest to stick with 2.0 or under, but there can be diamonds that are okay in the lower 2.0+ range.
