See Mars at It''s Closest

Earth and Mars are about to have a close encounter. On Jan. 27th, the Red Planet will be only 99 million kilometers away and look bigger through a telescope than at any time between 2008 and 2012. Here is a sky map for reference. Mars will be very bright for a few weeks.

You can easily find Mars on Friday evening when the full moon is near the brilliant planet.

We could very easily find mars a few weeks ago. It was bigger than I ever remember it and a very distinct reddish light! It was very neat....
