Hi Everyone

I´m wondering if I´m mistaken. I had asked WF to create my engagement ring and wedding band with 4 prong set sidestones. The first CAD wasn´t correct and now I have received my second CAD and it still doesn´t look like the sidestones are 4 prong set. To me it looks like its 4 bead set for each stone. Am I right or am I crazy? I´m getting very nervous now that WF won´t meet my deadline. Any thoughts?

Here´s the CAD

To be fair I can''t see how they can do them any differently. The melee are so small they probably can''t make prongs as such. Have you spoken to them about the recent CADS?

My thought is that you should ask them!

are you worried because the side view is not as open as maybe this but with four prongs instead on the sidestones? just a picture for reference.

Is there any reason why you prefer 4-prong instead of shared-prong?

In the CAD I definitely see the 4 prongs but they are so tiny there is not much difference in the look of prongs vs. beads. Do you have a photo of prong set meele?

Hey D & T

To answer your question, yes. The sideview is not open like in the picture you posted. I thought it would look more like that but with 4 prongs and small gaps between the prongs that are set side by side. Most 4 prong set sidestones I see look like the picture below. The sideview is open, 4 prongs and small gaps between the stones.

Hey Swingirl

Thanks for your interest in this topic. I really prefer 4 prong because I how the melee looks more square set instead of scalloped edges like in a shared prong setting. I have posted a photo of 4 prong meele to give you an example of what I was expecting. It´s based on a set on found here on pricescope.

Your CADs do kind of look like bead-set pave ... have you given Whiteflash the reference pictures you posted below? There are so many different versions of certain named things that sometimes a picture helps bridge the info gap better than common terms, yanno? Picture''s worth a thousand words & all ...

I agree with your selection though ... I do think the "square" look of the four prongs around the small diamonds would work well with your choice of a center Princess stone. Have you considered having the diamonds go as far around the e-ring as they go on the wedding band? When a woman wears a solitare like that they tend to spin & a lot of plain metal will show often. If she''s picky it might drive her crazy not to have them line up like a "set set". Just an idea!

Good luck!

Trentfrog, I've just copied your CAD and enlarged it to get a better view. I think that you're going to end up with prongs and gaps very similar to the picture you've just posted above. The difference is that on your CAD the diamonds look less exposed from a side view to how I think you had hoped it would look. However, in order to achieve the square look you would need more metal on the sides which is what the CADs show.

For peace of mind however, I would send Whiteflash the picture above and ask them if your ring will end up looking like that. If you're after a square shape and gaps for the melee then it's very important they know that. I'm sure they do but there's no harm in asking the question for your own peace of mind.

awww. now I see, show them a side view of the picture you posted. maybe they misunderstood you, and if they saw a picture, that would help them get the CAD corrected. I'm sure it will be finished in your time frame, it will be stunning!

Thanks for all of your help guys. All of your comments have helped to calmn me down. I have sent the two pictures to Whiteflash to clarify the look I´m going for. Cross your fingers.

is that a picture of mara''s rings? if so, WF has seen them in person and made her wedding band so they absolutely can make it like her set for you. good to clarify with them though.

Yep, best to send as many photos as possible as, just like anything else, sometimes different terms are misused or misunderstood. A picture goes alot further.

I do second Deco''s suggestion though wholeheartedly that you should consider asking them to make the diamonds the same distance around both rings - right now, it just looks a lil off to me. Whether its reducing the amount on the wedding ring to match, or increasing the amount on the ering...
Sorry I know you weren''t asking about this part, but I think it would really improve the overall look.

Sorry I''m a bit late to this, but the inspiration pic on granite does look like Mara''s rings. If so, we made the wedding band, so just email that picture to your sales associate and I''m sure it can be done.

not sure but I see 4 prongs...I would send them the pics you posted as reference
