Ok guys well I am back. Life got in the way a couple of months ago so the diamond search got put on hold. I am ready to kick it back off again and I am refreshing on some research. Last time I almost went crazy trying to find the perfect diamond in my budget. Every time I would find a diamond I would second guess myself and then the diamond would be gone. I had one instance where my local jeweler ordered a diamond in for me and when I googled the diamond's GIA certificate it was for sale on enchanted's website for 2k cheaper than what I was quoted and was listed as a 94 cut score. I really liked that diamond and it was way better than anything else I had looked at in the stores so that makes me think.....AM I OVERTHINKING THIS?......

Anyways I am back on the search for diamonds and of course I am starting to go crazy again. I am using the following measurements to search for diamonds:

Table: 54-58
Depth:60-62.3
Crown Angle: 34-35
Pavilion Angle: 40.6-41.0

I would like to stay in the following for criteria:

Cut: Ideal or Excellent
Color: G or higher
Clarity: vs2 or higher (would like to get some opinions on SI1 stones)
Carat: 1.00-1.15
Budget: $7,000 ( could go up depending on retailer and level of comfortableness of retailer)

I have been looking at Good ole Gold, Whiteflash, James Allen, and Enchanted.

I feel more comfortable with Good ole Gold and Whiteflash and would pay more for a diamond there vs James Allen and Enchanted. I know that I could get a very good diamond at James Allen and Enchanted and probably save a little over Whiteflash or GOG.

I am going to keep my OP free of links but in the posts below I am going to link a couple of diamonds from each retailer and discuss my thoughts on them. Any help that this community could provide me I would appreciate immensely.

This diamond is a F SI1 ACA Hearts and Arrows Super Ideal Cut Round Diamond. This is $700 over my budget but this is a very nice diamond. Now my concerns about this diamond: would I be ok going with a SI1 diamond like this versus a VS2 diamond? I mean will anyone really be able to tell this is a SI1? Pick apart this diamond and tell me if there is any reason I won't be satisfied with this diamond.

This diamond is a F SI1 Hearts and Arrows Ideal Cut diamond. It is $1,500 above my budget and is really pushing what I can do. So this would have to be a good bit better than the Whiteflash diamond.

This diamond looks really good but I feel like for a couple of hundred dollars more I would just go with the Whiteflash Diamond. But this is a Vs1 vs SI1. When picking between this and the Whiteflash what would YOU choose?

This looks like another really nice diamond.

The Whiteflash diamond isn't eye-clean. Sorry, I can't speak to the other diamonds but I'm sure someone more experienced can help you out. When you're looking at Whiteflash, look for the eye-clean logo usually shown above the item code. Good luck!

The GOG stone has an inclusion right under the table. It may or may not be eye clean - I'd call and see what they say, and tell them at what distance and from what angle you personally define eye clean. Arm's length? Elbow length? 6 inches? I briefly had a stone with a similar inclusion under the table and it was visible (and annoying) to me.

That particular WF stone is very nice other than the fact that it is not labeled as eye-clean. That said, the inclusions are not right under the table, so they may be more hidden in the facets. It is possible the person entering the info onto the site simply didn't enter the eye-clean label. If you are serious about this one, I'd call them, tell them what you want, ask if they can verify if this one is or isn't eye-clean, and they also may be able to point you to some other stones.

There are plenty of eye clean SI1's - I have several. Great bargains - don't write them off just yet.

I didn't even notice that the Whiteflash diamond isn't eye clean (I usually check for that). Well I will keep on looking and see if they have anything else that is eye clean.

I have been looking at that G VS2 stone at GOG

I am working with Matt to get a video of that diamond along side some others.

What do you guys think of the middle diamond in this video? Matt at GOG made this video for me.

This is the exact diamond in the middle. The one on the right is a 1.03 G SI1 that is not eye clean and of course the one on the left is your typical diamond.

Do you think this diamond will be better than 95% of most diamonds? Can you find anything wrong with it? I believe it is priced pretty decent considering the specs.

What is your over all opinion?
