Hi all,

At my DF's encouragement, I am working on a little RHR! Because my budget is fairly limited (~$2500), I am willing to wait for the perfect yellow diamond to come my way. :))

I love Wintotty's ring and would like something similar, but I know I will probably have to settle for something a bit smaller.

See: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-new-rhr-double-halo-yellow-diamond-ring.157408/

I'm open to most shapes, as I know my budget is limited. However, I would like the ring to have one center stone, and most likely have the center stone set it in a split shank setting. I like the idea of an oval or pear as I know they face up a bit bigger....

I tried on some .5 ct rings at T&CO and loved the rounded look of the double halo, but I'm not sure if that setting is within my budget... :(sad The single halo didn't feel rounded enough and left me wishing for a little more coverage.

Any help is very appreciated!

dk168- I think I have my heart set on a yellow diamond for this ring.... :))

And Mayk-- I am SOOO tempted. That Steven Kirsch ring is STUNNING!!!

Etsy is a good place to start..

The one on preloved is to die for but I understand the budget. Have you contacted diamonds by laurel ?

The price on the first ring is for the setting only (and already over OP's budget) and the second ring is a yellow sapphire (OP said she has her heart set on a yellow diamond). pretty rings though:)

Double post

Hi all,

Thank you so much for your input! I really appreciate it.

I am still eyeing that beautiful SK ring.....

Gypsy,

I like that oval stone a lot, but is there is chip at the top of it? Also, do you know anything about the process of having the stone set by JA? Would I mail the stone to them?

I'm trying to decide if .6 ct would be too small, and if I might be better off waiting to get something a bit bigger....

Momhappy,

I am open to shopping on Etsy, but the setting of the first ring you posted is a little chunky for my taste, and I'm hoping for something with a center stone, so no stackers for me... yet. I emailed the vendor of the 3rd ring you posted. Thanks!

heididdl,

I like the yellow diamond you suggested, but considering that is just the cost of the setting, it is out of my budget.

AprilBaby,

I did contact David at DBL, and he responded lightening fast, and sent me a photo of this stone:

http://www.diamondsbylauren.com/index.php/jewelry/loose-yellow-diamond-50cty-z-vs2-cushion-cut-gia-stunning-stone-r5898

and said he might be able to set it in a split shank setting within my budget. I'm hoping for something a little bigger or with a double halo... I'm waiting to hear back on a quote for a double halo, but I have a feeling it will be quite a bit more.

I'm thinking I will have to be patient and wait for a preloved ring within my budget to come up for sale.

Don't compare carat weight, compare spread of diamonds. That DBL stone is small in comparison to the oval from.

As for the oval. No I don't think that's a chip. Colored diamonds are cut for color and weight retention. Just looks like a little dip in the facets. But you can have their gemologist pull it for you and check it over.

6.12x4.27x2.91
versus
4.79 x 4.31 x 2.76

So, the oval is considerably larger and considerably yellower than the oval. 8)

There is this one, and you can wait to set it: http://www.leibish.com/yellow-diamond/072ct-fancy-light-yellow-oval-vs2-80583-15008

And this one: http://www.leibish.com/yellow-diamond/064ct-fancy-yellow-oval-vvs2-48974-11584

And yes, you would have Leibish send it to you, and if you like it and want to keep it, you would get it insured, then you would send it to JA for setting. Or you could have JA send the setting to Leibish and ask them to set it for you and then you would get it insured after the setting process.

I know David at DBL has done really lovely double halo rings for around $3500-4k. Honestly I would save a little more to be able to get what you really or want. Or remember w DBL you can buy a complete ring he has in stock now and trade it up when you're ready, I believe the ring has to be 2x on trade up but at least you would be wearing something in the meantime. Ask him to clarify policy, it may be a good way to go!

Yeah I'm an idiot. There was a vendor at Etsy a while back with a gorgous pear shape .40 in a halo but I couldnt find it . My iold eyes thought these were complete diamond rings and not setting and sapphire I failed you sorry

No apologies necessary =) The rings you posted were lovely - just not exactly what OP is looking for. No harm done.

This is the best advice.

How about this .55 ct cushion cut yellow fancy diamond ring (.80 cwt) . It is on clearance and in budget! Check it out here:
http://www.leibish.com/rings-jewelry/fancy-yellow-4147 I think it is a good value and comes with GIA cert. Let us know what you come up with and share!

You could probably even find something with a yellow diamond inner halo and a white diamond outer halo to give you a bigger yellow presence, especially since you already love the double.

Good luck!

Hi all,

Thank you so much for your suggestions. Sorry for not responding sooner. Been busy at work and also reeeally eyeing the preloved yellow diamond posted by Scarlett. Very sad to see it has sold. ;(

Diamondenvy1, I really loved Scarlett's double halo in yellow diamonds.

Heididdl -- no need to apologize as I really appreciate your (and everyone's) help!

Crazie4Cuts - I don't love that setting - really hoping to find a split shank with a double halo or a slightly bigger stone. I'm too picky for my current budget.... :((

Asscherhalo_lover and Gypsy - I think I am going to take your advice and be patient. And Gypsy, thanks for pointing out to check the measurements. :))

Momhappy, I really like your latest Etsy suggestion in the photos but am a little concerned about the conflicting description re: the diamond and ring specs. In one place, the center cushion cut is described as 1.00 ct, then as .75 ct, and the metal as 14kt gold in the title, but as 18 kt gold in the description. It doesn't bode well, but I emailed the vendor and will see what happens. Thank you for helping!!

The DBL ring is beautiful, but appears to be set a little crooked in the top photo. :?: I'm not sure why I don't love it, but I don't...

Anyway, I am leaning toward sleuthing the Preloved section/Diamond Bistro/Loupe Troop for a preloved ring as I think that might be a way to get something closer to my budget, while saving up in the meantime for a custom made ring I will love...

If anyone sees a preloved ring, please send it my way. Thanks!! :))

Keep an eye on Jewels by Grace's site too- she sometimes has consigned or preloved yellow diamond rings. I bought a 3 stone with a 0.6 ish FLY for not much more than your budget! Good luck with the search.

The conflicting description wouldn't be of concern to me. Jewelery on Etsy is almost always customizable, so it's not like it's mass-produced and has to meet specific criteria each time. Rings can be made with different size stones, different metals, etc. It says right in the description that the ring can be made with various size center stones, so the listing itself is more of just a representation of the type of ring up for sale and not the actual ring.
Keep us posted on your search! =)
