Scuff on Platinum...How to polish?

My girls new ring got scuffed (how I can best describe it) slightly and I want to polish it out. I have normal metal polishes, but I''m not sure if you can use them on platinum.

Any suggestions?

I would take it to a jeweler and let them polish it out for you.

I agree with kaleigh. Take it to the jeweler where you bought it (if they''re local) and they should polish it for free.

The scuffing is called a patina, and some people (me) prefer it to the glossy freshly polished look. Does your fiancee want it polished?

Hi. I have a deepish scuff on my platinum band. I took it to a jeweler, and they discouraged me from having it polished out because it would be so deep and would mess up the shape of the band at that point.

When I first got my nice, shiny platinum wedding ring three years ago, I hated the first few scratches. They drove me crazy! I even refused to wear my engagement ring and wedding ring on the same finger so they wouldn''t scratch each other. But time passed, now there are so many scratches it''s all a uniform, slightly matte finish, and I think it''s much more beautiful than the shiny newness. I think of the scratches as the record of the daily events of my married life.
