Hi all,

I just recently started my e-ring search and am learning ridiculous amounts of info from all your posts! One strange thing I''ve recently observed is that some diamonds appear to be scratched when under the hearts/diamonds view -- see the attached picture. Does this mean there''s internal scratching inside these diamonds? I don''t think the problem is with the viewer itself since oftentimes only 1 of the several hearts/diamonds pictures shows scratches. Thanks!

Looks to me like it could be an inclusion reflecting around the stone, ask the vendor to be certain.

As Lorelei mentioned, it could be an inclusion reflecting throughout the stone - which is not uncommon, since a round brilliant cut diamond is essentially like a round room of mirrors. However, this could also be the result of a little bit of smudge / gunk on the diamond which is being reflected and/or a scratch on the lens of the viewer itself...

Btw just as an aside I do notice the slit in the top of each heart in this image. That according to the article I read would ding this stone as not a true hearts and arrows stone. What do you all think of that?
My guess by looking is that the hearts viewer is scratched and this does not reflect the diamond at all.
