Say Yes to the $$$$$$$ Dress-----Do you watch this?

gotta chime in here...

i DO watch the show and YES, THERE ARE DEFINITELY SOME BRIDEZILLAS THERE! if you haven't seen them then there's no way you've watched that show!

aside from how particular they are about their wedding details, bridezillas are in abundance on that show, i don't care how you slice it ;))

I would say there are more "princesses" than bridezilla's. I love the show, but it always bothers me a bit when the bride has a "no price is too high" attitude and her mom/dad/aunt/grandmother is sitting there clearly uncomfortable with the price of the final dress. Obviously the family should have discussed budget before going in to the store, but at the same time its so obvious that they're uncomfortable...you'd think the bride would notice.

That said, the dresses are gorgeous and I'd be there in a second if I could afford it. I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting the perfect dress and being picky. Its an expensive purchase and you're going to have to deal with the pictures for a lifetime!

Just had to drop in here and post. I have been married 31 years and got my wedding dress at Kleinfelds... when it was in Brooklyn, NY. It was a non discript store front on a random street and the dresses were all smashed together in one huge room with revolving racks like in the dry cleaners. The lovely sales lady asked what style was I looking for and whooosh the dresses rushed past until she got to the ones that were in my "style" and we started from there. I got a dress that was NOTHING like what I thought I wanted, but was what I wanted! My dress cost $400. back then and my dad thought it was a fortune!
My daughter got married 2 1/2 years ago and got a beautiful dress at Davids bridal. A much more elegant shop that good ol Kleinfelds!!
FWIW... I think a bridezilla is a bride who puts everyone down and pushes everyone involved with the wedding around under the mistaken impression that she is owed it. Her dress could cost 250.00 or 25,000.00. It is all about attitude.
But I really do love the show!

I just sent in my application for the show

I have a love/hate relationship with this show. I like seeing the dresses, but I hate watching the brides fall in love with dresses they cannot afford. It makes me feel crumby.

The other day, both brides featured couldn't afford the dresses that they loved. One kept trying to talk herself into it, even though it was literally thousands more than she expected/wanted to pay. It was seriously the tipping point which made me decide not to buy a diamond that was $1,000 over my ring budget, even though I could "afford" to buy it. I often see variations of "its ok if I'm over spending cause this is the one!" on that show and it always makes me go :? .

I watch it and like the show. However, sometimes I feel the dresses aren't even that spectacular for what they cost. They look like any other gowns you could buy for only $1k at a cheaper salon, at least for the most part.

I think that a huge reason for this is because while grandma/aunt/uncle/dad/mom/whoever is paying may say "The sky is the limit" they probably do still have a "top dollar" amount in mind...AND they probably don't know how much wedding gowns can cost nowadays. There is a huge difference between now and 20 (or longer) years ago and what may have been top dollar then ($3,000) isn't top dollar now ($30,000+). Eesh.

And yeah, I know the fact that it was a color totally tripped people out with my dress....and it came in handy in Vegas--we didn't get the doting "OMG congratulations!" People just thought we were dressed up!

What a great story to share! That store sure has come far! I would have loved to have been able to go to a store like (current) Kleinfelds and asked them what they would see me in since I was so undecided on style at first.

I've majorly cut back on how many bride tv shows I watch since getting married 2 years ago (I used to drive dh NUTS with watching them, all of them, whenever they were on), but I still watch this one. Something about finding the dress is SO special, I never get tired of seeing people find their dresses even if they are things I would never dream of wearing or could never dream of affording!

I love SYTTD and Bridezillas I just think those shows are just so funny. I don't agree with the prices they spend on the dress but hey with a discount it may not be that bad for them. Say yes to the dress Atlanta premiers this Friday can't wait to see it.

I watch on occassion. I'm still soured by one PS bride's experience there (on the show) so it put SYTTD in a whole new light. I went there when I was dress shopping and my consultant was one of the regulars on the show (the one with the freaky hair and lip liner) and she treated me really well. It was a good experience, but I also knew that unless an amazing sample surfaced that they were willing to sell (HIGHLY unlikely) I knew I wouldn't be buying a gown there.

I have definitely seen that show many times. I think the most expensive dress I saw on there was $26k. JUST FOR THE DRESS! :o

It's a fun show to watch, even though I couldn't afford any of the dresses in there.

I went to my best friends wedding this past weekend and she had a Monique Lhuillier that was gorgeous. I loved it.

I watch the show occasionally, but it's not something I set out to watch. I like it though. I love the moment they find the perfect dress.

I don't even think people are bad on this show! Usually it's their family/friends that act absurdly. Of course, they drop quite a few $$$ on the dress that they ultimately buy, I don't judge. I would too if I could. I feel like these people are a far cry from Bridezilla.

I like watching all the drama/decision-making around the finding the 'perfect dress'. It's fun to watch. I would never spend $1000 + for a dress I would wear on one day only, though, even if I could afford it. My first wedding dress was about $200 and the second one was about $60 - ordered online. I think I looked pretty good both times. :) It just seems wasteful to me to spend all that money on a one-time dress.
