for those of you who have purchased "a cut above" diamonds from whiteflash, are you satisfied with them? are they as well cut and as brilliant as other branded diamonds? are they noticeably better cut and more brilliant than other "ideal" cut diamonds? thanks

I own 3 "A cut above" stones. ....my e-ring, a solitaire pendant, and a halo pendant, and yes, I''m extremely satisfied with them.

Yes, they are as well-cut and brilliant as other branded stones; I''ve compared my e-ring to several HOF stones, and it''s more than met the challenge.

As are as "are they noticeably better cut and more brilliant than other ideal-cut diamonds".......no, and maybe yes.

The no part: your unaided eye wouldn''t likely discern a "noticeable" difference when the stone is set and worn.

The maybe yes part: Brian''s standard for the precision of the H&A pattern are among the strictest in the industry, so it may be possible that you could see a noticeable difference in the precision of the H&A pattern when viewing through an H&A viewer when comparing against other H&A stones (which may or may not as exact). However, evern noticing a difference through the H&A viewer doesn''t mean the stone will be any more or less lovely when set.

I just got my .818 carat ACA solitaire engagement ring last Friday... the diamond itself is a G VS2, and it set in an 18K yellow gold band with a 6-prong platinum head. Total cost was $4116.

Here are two unsolicited quotes:

A quote from my fiance when we first took it out of the package - "Wow - I got you a bigger diamond than I thought I did!"

A quote from my roomate, while sitting on the couch watching TV last night - "Wow - I *really* thought you were putting too much energy into searching for a diamond... but, now, I totally see why. Your ring - especially the diamond - is really gorgeous."

The only thing that alarmed me a little, is that it looked blue outside in the sunlight - but, others on the board say that it''s the sky reflecting off the facets!

I''m taking it in for an independent appraisal on Saturday. We''ll see what he has to say....

I am totally satisfied.

A little over a year ago, after torturing Bob Hoskins at Whiteflash by having him call in a bunch of different stones, an some asschers, some rounds, having them sent to me, going to my appraiser, sending them back, I finally surrendered to the inevitable and bought my 3.11ct, H, VS2, ACA, without eve looking at it first. I knew the color was more than good for me. Same with the clarity. So I had them set it in a six prong platinum, solitaire setting and send it to me. Oh my. It''s like nothing I, or any of my family, or any of my friends, or any of my neighbors for that matter, have ever seen.

I get compliments on it all the time.

I love it so much, I didn''t want it to be lonely. So I''ve sent it back to WF to get two ACA friends, also sight-unseen. (all to be set in a three stone trellis ring). So, I will soon be the proud owner of three ACA''s and can''t wait!!

I''ve never seen any of the other brands (Hearts on Fire, 8 star, etc.).

I haven''t regretted the purchase for a single moment. I would recommend the ACA line to anyone. If you know what color and clarity you''re comfortable with (remember, you can go down in both with a perfectly cut stone) then you can just order and they will ship. They have a great return policy, and one of the best life-time trade up policies I have come across.

Best,
LizzyD

P.S. When I went into Tiff''s with my ring on, the salesman assumed it was a Tiffany ring. When I told him I bought it by the numbers, on-line, from this great place in Houston at about 1/2 or 2/3 the price of the same size Tiffany rings (which, by the way, did not sparkle anywhere near as much as mine, and my ring was kinda dirty) he said, but it''s not a TIFFANY ring with all that implies. I said "yeah, but you can''t wear the blue box on your hand, so I''d prefer to put the extra money into the carat weight and sparkle, not into the piece of blue cardboard." He sniffed at me. Whatever.

If you want a RB, it doesn''t get much better.

I have one ACA that is in a halo pendant a la Aljdewey. Most amazing stone I have ever seen. And I own a ring from Tiff''s. Wish I had found PS ages ago.
