I was under the impression that Sarin reports: 1) always contained a facet by facet breakdown of angles (at least for the pavilion and crown angles); and 2) were extremely accurate. But I have been working with a B&M who has a diamond for which a Sarin report has been done. But when I asked to see the listing of specific angles from the report, I was only given the summary listing average angles. Shouldn''t there be a detailed report with each angle so i can check for wide variances?

Also, the average angles differ from the AGS report by some degree. Which should be more accurate? Do different Sarin machines have different calibrations (I was told that could be the explanation for the discrepancy).

Thanks for help regarding this!!

There are different models of the sarin machine with varying accuracy, calibration and firmware differences can also have an effect.
They vary in cost from $5k to over $20k with the quality and accuracy rising with the price.
What they have is a summery report not the detailed report.

Id go by the AGS numbers.

Ask for the .srn or the "full report" which will give you a lot more information.

Not sure about Sarin, but on OGI machines there is an option where you can set how they calculate the angles, depths and lengths (eg median, mean etc etc) on the report.
