I am looking at buying a:

1.00 Asscher
D VS1
Excellent Polish and Symmetry
56% Table
69.9% Depth
5.58x5.49x3.84
$5,355
GIA cert#14635623

I have had several independent dealers (even diamond appraisers with a serin machine) tell me that it is overkill to have a serin report done when I have table %''s and depth %''s like this with exc polish and symm. Sorry I do not have any pictures or further info to post about the diamond, but do you think I am way over thinking this to have a serin done and an ideal-scope? Shouldn''t a diamond with those GIA specs be a brilliant diamond?

Thank you all so much for your help!

I think it is important to get the crown height.

From my brief experience trying to find my own asscher the GIA report and #''s only give you a guide as to whether you should give the stone a chance. From what i''ve seen there have been dead stones with great numbers and horrible cuts with great numbers. As this stone is rather complex physically looking at it is really the only way to know. As for the sarin report it will provide you with crown angle and height which is an important measure so its worth getting if your trying to make sure the proportions are right on the scope but the ideal-scope while nice is usually best for round''s not fancy cuts.
