Here is an example of a left to right tilted facet giving phantom facets in the sarin viewer.

Hi Storm, been travelling a bit and never got back to this thread.

While such innnacuracy in the scan you showed above may not be acceptable for a cutter, it will make little or no difference at dealer and consumer level.

For example, if you have that file it would be probably be impossible to see any difference between the 0.07 degrees of ''broken'' facet if you or I "refacetd that facet with the Cut editor in DiamCalc.

Wanna try it?
Without the wire frame in Diamcalc - with say a Gem Adviseer file, it would be just about impossible to detect, and I imagine the light return etc will be the same

this particular stone is so far out of spec that it makes no difference the gem file is helium so importing the sarin file gives you a direct comparison.
I have seen where helium vs sarin based vs actual has made enough difference to a kicken to a woofer call if I didn''t know what was going on.
I can deal with it from either scan but how many other people can look at the actual picture and IS images and spot the flaws in the scans and resulting virtual images?

Check your email for something that will blow the top off this that isn''t ready for public viewing until I find some answers.
