Sarin and Lightscope from Online Vendors

This morning I went to go see a diamond that I thought was going to be a winner. It took me two seconds to realize that something was very wrong with the cut. There was a dark circle around the center of the stone. I asked them what was causing the shadow and they said that it was normal......all princess cuts did that. Of course, thanks to you guys, I knew better

. So now I have seen first hand how important cut is. So to make a long story short......I have finally come to the realization that I am going to have to go online to get what I want. I am looking at two stones from Union and Whiteflash.

I have heard that WhiteFlash will send you Sarin and Lightscope reports, but will Union or any other of the internet vendors do that?

For sake of clarification:

I realize there was a recent thread in which I was asked about a reflector image and "LightScope" may have resulted as you were researching more about this. With so many scopes on the market it is easy to confuse who has what and what images are being taken. At the current time there is only one source of LightScope reflector images of which I am the inventor of and is patent pending. The 2 vendors you mention are honorable people and if you desire photography through our invention I am more than willing to work with any company to help you attain the information and knowledge you seek. Otherwise there are other reflectors on the market which photography is decent through but every reflector we've investigated was not designed with photographic purposes but viewing purposes in mind. The photography through the viewing scopes varies from very good to dismal so if you consult an appraiser who photographs through the viewing scopes I can recommend certain appraisers who do a better job than most. Among them would be Neil Beatty (aka Denvery Appraiser), Bill Lieberum (aka RockDoc), Rich Sherwood (aka Rich Sherwood

) and Dave Atlas (aka Dave Atlas

). Each of these men participate on this forum and selflessly give of their time to help individuals just like you.

Them or me are here for your disposal mahende.

Once our patent is complete I would like to share with my friends our invention and help standardize photography through these reflectors in a way I think will ultimately help everyone.

Rhino if you have sooo much money to waste on a patent that has no chance of being granted, why not take us all out for dinner? At $100 a head for 50 of us, it would be less costly and more fun

WF and many other vendors use the IdealScope which is another method of measuring light return from the stone.

UD and other vendors may give you more information, you'd probably just have to ask what they will supply to you!

I''m not so sure that the patent would not be granted. My guess is Probably 50/50.

However, Rhino''s ability to defend the validity of the patent in court is probably very slight.

Of course, who would challange it.

Not sure if Rhino knows that all the existance of a patent means is that he may have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars sueing people who "infringe" on it. Given the number of other similar systems out their previiously; I doubt that he would win damages at all.

1. what is new and innovative that was not obvious "to anyone skilled in the field"?
2. everyone who has seen it or knows what it is, can use, make and sell the same device (patents require secrecy prior to lodgement).

in the US right now pretty much anything can be patented.
Just put internet someplace in the description.
If no one challenges it during the comment period it will likely be granted.
Making it stick afterwards is another story.
