I finally got some better pictures and since we all love looking at pretties, I wanted to share.

Also, I want to thank those of you who have helped me in the past. It’s been a very long search and I’d all but given up until this beauty. I’ve learned so much!

5.05 unheated Ceylon sapphire in platinum and 18k. I paid $12500 in the event anyone else is researching, etc. (Most unheated I had found were WAY above this price range.)6FBBD61D-54D6-47F6-8413-9BB714C9F248.jpeg4605633F-1504-4B22-B7B5-6401B8BBDED9.jpeg48A955F3-3467-4443-8EAB-772BE5C99F02.jpeg938A773A-35A4-4507-95B4-E6BEC523EADC.jpegE300ED5E-D681-4D31-87C6-462E217781B7.jpeg91BC7280-488F-4D85-B800-95A7F259A841.jpeg28D3C683-B64F-4FA8-BB3F-AB2250A006FB.jpeg988FF0AF-46CD-457E-8962-9D5D9380FCD3.jpeg

Thanks for sharing more pictures! The sapphire is a gorgeous color, and I love that setting! :kiss2:

Scrumptious! :love:

:eek2: Love it!

WOW :love::love::love:

That is amazing. The color!!!

Wear it in good health.

BEAUTIFUL!! Was that price for the stone only? So helpful to know.

The prongs are 18 K that surprises me. Is there a thread about this setting?

:appl:

Total price! I almost paid $9500 for a heated one that wasn’t near as pretty. I don’t know enough to comment on the setting but was told it’s Victorian and was a custom made piece. I do worry about only having 4 thin prongs though.

It’s very beautiful and an excellent price.
My thought is that they did remove the sapphire from the setting for the GIA report and they had to replace the prongs. Not a fabulous remounting.
I would consider sending your ring off (I I know you just received it and never want it to be out of sight now!) and get a better set of prongs made.

Thanks I think you made a great purchase!

Thank you all. @Bron357 I will likely have a local jeweler redo the prongs. You think a little thicker and longer, or just thicker? And no, I don’t want to be out of sight of it, but I don’t want to lose the stone either! I had it sized at lunch the other day and was told to come back in an hour. I hung out in the store waiting. :roll

It's beautiful! Congrats!

Looking again, you can see the remains of the old prongs, they cut them off just about level with the sapphire.
I would get the rounded ends like the diamonds are set.
If you use a fingernail on the girdle edge and see if the sapphire can be made to “wiggle a bit” that’s a sign of the sapphire being loose in the setting.
But the biggest problem with those replacement prongs is that there is only 4 (6 or 8 is better) and they have pointed ends. You could easily snag one on a jumper or something and lift it up. That could be very perilous with only 3 prongs holding a sapphire of that size.
So I would get that corrected as soon as possible.

:love::love:What gorgeous color! Congratulations!!! :love::love:

Thanks @Bron357 - I’ll do that!! It’s not loose but I don’t want to take any chances.

So beautiful! I love it! Good luck fixing the prongs.

What a gorgeous ring and the color is bluelicious.:kiss2: Looks so beautiful on you!

The ring is gorgeous on you and absolutely enormous! Enjoy your wonderful find! :love:

CONGRATULATIONS!! I remember you were feeling discouraged earlier in the year, so it's wonderful to see that you now have a sapphire ring that is making your heart sing -- it is a beautiful piece to treasure :dance:

So now that I have the ring and am about to get the prong issue taken care of, anything I should be aware of? I know there's re-tipping and redoing prongs completely -- but thinking these can be re-tipped with a rounder tip vs the pointy ones that may snag. I'm thinking of adding one on the north and south sides as well - 6 will be better than 4 and I think it will still look just as beautiful. Ideas and thoughts anyone? @Bron357 Thanks in advance!

Wow! It’s a beautiful ring!! I’m so glad others have their eyes peeled for the prong issue. I wouldn’t have noticed. I’m glad you are going to get it fixed. Enjoy your piece of blue heaven!

What a ring! The colour of the sapphire is gorgeous. It really pops from the screen. And I love the setting. It’s strong and powerful, yet with soft and feminine lines.

Glad you will solve the prongs and perhaps have 6 prongs for safety

Ohhhhhh, absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!

What an amazing ring!
