Sapphire Engagement Ring

So I am looking to propose to my gf of 8 years (we've been dating since I was 19), and I am looking to put together a blue sapphire engagement ring as we are looking to get away from a traditional diamond setup. I have a budget of about $4k for the whole ring. I am hoping a nice ring could be put toogether with .95-1.25crt stone. I know she likes a Harry Winston type setup with one of the following shapes: round, cushion, or oval. Outside of that, I am at a loss as to how to select the ring, especially with what to look for in a sapphire stone. Any advice is welcome. Thank you so much!

there is a lot of good info that members provided in that thread...and still are as the stone been purchased but not yet set. admittedly, not all go to the amount of effort he has! don't be intimidated by all the information. the process can be as easy and simple as you want it to be.....or a quest for a grail stone.

and congrats to you on your pending engagement.....after all this time i'm assuming she will say yes!
