Oh strmrdr that would be amazing!

That Winkjones ring looks so similar to the FC one (see FC ring below!). Do you think they are from the same designer? Or do Wink and FC both make their own rings?

Wink''s looks to be much higher quality and there are some design differences.

I see that I am alone on this

...but I have to say that I am not digging the saphire halo ring as an engagement ring. Perhaps as a right hand ring, but not for an engagement ring. I personally like the second photo or the one on the left with the white diamonds creating a halo; specifically the one that you have posted is actually very delicate and eligant for a halo ring and would make IMO a better choice for an engagement ring.

However, if this is not your first e-ring and you want to spice it up a bit, the saphire halo seems to be a great way to do it!

Thanks for your thoughts Kaleidoscopic! Yes, I am considering this for an E-ring (my first and only e-ring

), and this is my very point of "inner-debate" - whether I would want this as my E-ring? Even after all these wonderful postings I''m still debating it. I guess it''s a good thing my BF isn''t ready to go shopping tonight!

You''re not alone, Kaleidoscopic! I too would worry that I would not want to wear this ring every day for the rest of my life. I think it''s beautiful and would make a wonderful RHR, but I too think the diamond halo is the classic, elegant choice for an e-ring. But, my style tends to be "traditional with a modern flair". If I were to do the colored ring, it would be a sapphire (possibly with a diamond halo).

Have you considered going with a gemstone as the center, Sunkist? It would be cheaper to get a diamond halo with a sapphire center than the other way around! But, if you do go with this ring I think it''s lovely--just not my style for an e-ring

I would love one for a RHR, too. The only e-ring setting that I''d personally want colored stones in is the three stone diamond center and sapphire sides like San Diego Lady and an earlier poster have. But, there is something for everyone''s taste, that''s for sure!

Yeah, I''ve thought about having a gemstone center. I think it would be different and neat. But then I always go back to the arguement that I''ve never had a diamond, and I want to have "my diamond" from my future hubby. I also think I''d rather have color as an accent in an e-ring and not a large colored stone. Hmmmm...

edited to add: the post was corrected allot because at first I thought one FC picture was Wink's. Big mistake.

No.

Do you think they are from the same designer?

No. Besides, Wink says that ring was custom made and they sourced and custom cut the sapphires.

Or do Wink and FC both make their own rings?

I don't think so. There have been examples of custom work commissioned through Wink's around here, how FC works out custom orders I do not know. On the website it is only mentioned that some setting designed are made to fir the stones, but that is not quite custom order (no room to change the design). As far as I know...

About the settings at Fay... well, at least the picture in your post cited above doesn't show a ring that is already broken
32.gif
but... why did they have to try and cast the lattice work? ...since this means it would stay rough-edged. At least the magnified pictures don't do this ring any good. And if the sapphires in the bezel at Fay's went slanted - is it just a matter of time? Sure enough, it may not be fair to evaluate such detail from pictures only at either shop (Fay and Wink). But these are meant to be relevant pictures in a store's 'window' - why assume they are worse than the goods in the store?

What makes me think better could be had at Wink's, is the story of that ring in their gallery (not very hard evidence, but you could ask...) - that they had to select the sapphires and cut them to measure. The setting looks precisely shaped and solid enough to maintain shape and hold the sapphires in place. Which is good news, of course. The story fits custom work.

I would have liked a less squarish shank on Wink's ring - especially if the intention is to obtain a vintage look, not geometrical and modern. But that may have been precisely what the initial customer wanted.

Sorry for the confusion and editing...

Thanks for spending time to edit your comments Valeria! I''m happy to hear your real thoughts!

Sunkist, in my last post I was meaning a diamond as the center, largest stone and the side stones (smaller) as sapphires. Maybe San Diego Lady will repost her ring design here!
