Purplish pink gemstone.

But how to know where is the edge of pink/red/purplish sapphire and pale red pinkish ruby???

These are details of upper sapphire.

Develop an eye for colour and you will see the difference easily. Also note that when selling, stones tend to be called ruby and when buying, stones tend to be called pink sapphire.

Colour isn't that great, clarity is really quite poor, coupled with the huge window. If interested in that particular stone, do negotiate very heavily due to the cons stated prior.

There's no obvious red colour on my monitor -- I say sapphire

I bought it for 60 dollars. Why did i bought it? I bought it for collection and it looks charming (different) in real life. I saw something in it. Hahahahha

Also bought for 56 dolars :

The color is what I would call reddish purple, but purple is the primary color. I get so tired of dealers calling purplish sapphires, "rubies." It's a ploy to get you to pay more than its worth.

I started this topic based on discussion where is the edge between pale red rubys and pink reddish sapphires. In my opinion that is totally irrelevant. Because youll buy what looks better to you, not what price or name suggests.
