Rounded Channel Set Eterrnity Band - Opinions?

I've been thinking about a rounded channel set eternity band for a while, but haven't seen anything that really matches that description on the market. Most channel set bands have really square pipe-cut style edges, but I want something more rounded and comfort fit.

My deign specs so far:
Metal: platinum
Melee: 0.015ct F/G VS ACA melee - stones to go all the way around the ring for a full eternity.
(If you think the design would look better with a different size of melee, please let me know. Melee of 0.03ct and above are too coarse-grained for this project. The melee should be more of a line of sparkle than row of distinct stones)
Ring size: 4
Ring width: approximately 3mm - a nice width for pairing with my 2.5mm e-ring, but also substantial enough to wear on its own.
Ring height: approximately 1.7mm evenly all the way around ( my ering varys in band height from about 1.5 to 2.0mm, so I thought 1.7 could be a nice compromise)
Ring design: Rounded edges would give the band the shape and feel of a rounded–comfort fit wedding band, rather than the usual sharply defined pipe-cut sides of a traditional channel-set band. The corners and edges of the band would be rounded to eliminate the sharp outer corner edges of the “rails” that form the diamond channels. The edges meeting the inner surface of the band would also be rounded for a comfortable fit. The metal edges would be a prominent design feature, but should not overpower the diamonds in the middle.

Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions?

I think it'll be beautiful, and I love the idea of the rounded edges. I'd like one just like it, only ~2.3-2.5mm in width.

Sorry I was not totally successful with finding a rounded channel - but here are a few to look at, incase they just might be suitable....

Not a channel set, but it does look like a wall of diamonds....

slightly larger - still not channel set (sorry)

From WF - Leon Mege (again... no rounded channel setting that met your diagram)

and from BGD - closer in the width you are looking for but not channel.

I didn't find anything on the uniquesettingsofnewyork.com or on Stuller or adwar. Perhaps calling one of the PS vendors and sending photos - they could find it for you?

Thanks E.B. I hope it will be as comfortable as I imagine it will be :)

Hi Enerchi thanks for looking around for me! (You're so kind!) - You've found some really lovely options. Unfortunately your searches have confirmed my suspiscion - I'm probably going to have to go custom on this one (I've emailed BGD a quote request, so soon I'll see how much it's going to be).

For off the shelf options I saw one design at clay pot a while ago: http://www.clay-pot.com/product.php?productid=4583&cat=6&page=1 almost perfect, but not having top quality melee is a mindclean issue, and the price is quite high.

Hearts on fire used to make a rounded channel-set eternity: http://oakgem.com/Products/Hearts_On_Fire_Preference_Channel_Set_Wedding_Band_Ring_7795.aspx but it was only 3/4, doesn't come in platinum (I think) and is now out of production.

I think some European jewellery lines might carry a similar ring, but I've only seen pictures.

That's great that you've called BGD for a quote! Hope its 'do-able' for you- they make BEAUTIFUL rings... :naughty: (as someone who just got hers last week!)

Custom doesn't have to be that over the top expensive and it will be just what you want and made to fit with your ering and to your specs. I think BGD has a new policy that they want to make the wedding ring at the same time, if you order an engagement ring from them. (ask about that - I could have interpreted that incorrectly...) What that may mean for you, is you may need to send them your ring so they could fit the eternity band appropriately under/around your existing mount. They will send you a shipping tag for that, and it will all be safe and secure. But it will be hard to not have your ering with you for a while! Just focus on their gorgeous glamour shots they will send when it is done!!!

The quote from BGD came back quite quickly! (Denise was lovely)
It seems that having a custom ring is about $400 more than ordering a similar ring they offer in their catalog. The quote seems reasonable given that they'll have to use more platinum and going custom with BGD is still less than clay pot's offering.

Now I just have to figure out If I should purchase it now, or wait for Mr Hopedream to give it to me for Christmas.

Do you think the price of melee and platinum will go up or down before Christmas? Platinum seems fairly low right now.

Denise!! :appl: :appl: :appl: Say hi from Enerchi!! Love her!!

I'd go for it now - A) I'm impulsive and can't wait and have the attention span of a gnat and just crave jewellry! (I am among like minded souls here, so that's a safe statement!) and B) you just never know. Prices go up and down - be it gold/diamonds/coloured stones. If you can do it, do it. MR Hopedream can always put it away and still wait to Christmas to give it to you, thereby avoiding the rush rush rush of the christmas season....

Glad it's going to work out for you!

My CADs are in!
BGD has done a really great job capturing what I wanted
I can't wait to see the finished peice!
