I'm a newbie to the diamond world and need your expertise on which shape of ring to get for my e-ring.
I know I want a plain 4 prong setting on a thin band.
I like the look of cushion cut.
1.80 ct to 2.5 ct. ( if a 1.80 can be cut to look like a 2ct thats good. Otherwise I'll go up in size. minimum dimensions of 7.50mm x 7.50mm)
I've been doing some shopping around and the general feeling I'm getting is that cushion cut is not that desirable.
Everytime I tell a sales person I want cushion they immediately ask why in a questionable tone of voice.
I don't have a huge budget but still want the brilliance and white color for the largest size I can get.
I've been told that a round diamond looks bigger because of the way its cut.
So my question is should I go Round or Cushion? What are the lowest color, clarity, and cut I should go for before my diamond starts looking dull and yellow? Should I only buy GIA? Heard many scary things about EGL.
