Okay, some of you may know that I am a Radiant girl. Recently, due to the lack of quality stones, we have expanded the serach into *gasp* round territory. Yesterday I had to acknowledge that a RB (only round stones I have seen so far) sprakle MUCh better than anything else out there, and can look whiter (in lowere color grades) than a fancy shape can. Damnit!

I saw a super faceted RB that had like 100 facets. A very intricate burst pattern on the pavillion with as many as 60+ facets on the bottom (because there were too many to count) and 40 facets on the crown, whereas a regular RB has 24 on crown and about 32 on pavillion?

Question is: What is this stone? Is it a pattented cut? If so, who has it? I was told some designer did it, and may even be the same guy who does the Hearts on Fire, but that was speculation only. Any clues?

This thing sparkles with little sparkles and has great fire, but i don''t know what to call him!

Any RB people out there? Anyone? Anyone?

Bueller...? Bueller...?

Hi Nicrez-

Roberto Coin has a 100 facet diamond called the Cento but I think it's only available set into his jewelry. Gabrielle diamonds cuts a 105 facet round. They also cut a version of the princess with cut corners and 81 facets you might like since you were looking for previously looking for a square radiant. Go here and click on 'The Shape'.

What's with the patented cuts! Anyway... the most facets on a RBC I had the pleasure to be informed of were 127 (there was some note on this on voguegioiello.it). There are plenty other kinds of branded rounds: the Leo has a brother the "Lion" cut (no table) and "Spirit of Flanders" (I guess that brand is gone... whatever).

Anyway, if you like the look of all that faceting, some normal rounds could also be satisfactory: the fiery kind. Give them a try, it must be worth it... Isn't GOG, near the infamous district ? (well, "near" as seen from where I am)

GOG is an hour away from NYC, which from where you are is not bad. Put it this way, I take trains to work and am there from door to door under 30 minutes. I am not a commuter, so anything I can find, a bloack away (as I work a BLOCK AWAY from the diamond district is EASY!) Talk about Lunch at Tiffany's!

Thanks for the info on the Gabrielle diamond thing. The stone I saw WAS set. Actually it was a half bezel set with the N/S sides of the diamond fully exposed and suspended over the band. It was just lovely, though I am not a big RB fan. I liked that the facets were not chunky, like regular stones, as I like that tiny sparkle look in Radiants. I also liked the shape, but I am willing to round for a better cut, IF NEED BE...

Thanks guys for the advice, and I will make it out to GOG, but maybe I am stalling so they can get more radiants in...

It may be patented; it may not. There are several 100-facet diamonds with patents. There are also cuts with 101 facets, 105 facets, 110 facets, 114 facets, 128 facets, 129 facets, 145 facets, and--believe it or not--224 facets. It's something of a fad right now, you see.

The 100-facet cuts I know of are the Centillion (obsolete), the Cento, the Diallenium, and the Zoë. What you saw was probably either a Cento or a Diallenium, as the Centillion is no longer manufactured and the Zoë is a specialty cut available in only a very few places.

The Cento cut is manufactured by Rosy Blue of Antwerp; I don't believe that anyone has an exclusive distributorship. The Diallenium is cut in Israel and imported by Orion Diamond of New York; I don't know who they're selling them to at the retail level, though.

LawGem to the rescue! YAY!
Well, I saw this stone, and wondering what a good price on it would be based on it being (most likely) Roberto Coin's Cento stone with these specs:

E, SI1 (with slight crystal in center)
7.58 x 7.64 x 4.50
1.57 cts
D= 59%
T= 58%
Girdle= Med, Faceted (what is that?)
No Culet
P= VG
S= G
Fl= Med Blue

Because of the stone's brilliance it is diddfult to see the crystal, but can be made out very slightly with the naked eye...

Also, the platinum setting is included in the price of $10K. Is that fair?
