round studs go with what necklace?

so had another talk with the lady that blew my mind. she previously said she wanted studs. Now came out about a desire for a simple diamond pendant. I'm still for getting the studs since I think she will get more use of out of them over the years than a simple necklace. But i know she would also like earrings to match the necklace (even if the gifts are received over 5-20 years).

However... if I go with round studs.. then what kind of pendant? i think it would have been awesome to get her an asscher pendant down the line. But does that mean I can't get her round studs now? Asscher studs seem like a bad idea...

So if you get round studs, are you limited to only round-ish pendants in the future?

She has a square cushion engagement ring....

I know she is open to round/square studs or pendant, she hasn't thought it through really...

I'm also wondering if I over thought it

This is just my opinion, but I'd be fine with having round studs and a differently shaped pendant. In fact, I have a round pendant and studs, and I find I don't wear them often together because I feel they're a bit too "matchy". But of course this is just my personal preference!

I think it's very nice that you're putting so much thought and effort into this!

Thank you! I just want to make sure the $ is spent right. I'm also only now realizing that women have a plan when they assemble their jewelry collections. I'm trying to respect that plan! :read: :read: :read:

I think other shaped pendants go great with round studs. I have round studs and would happily wear a pear or a cushion pendant.

How about Asscher?

I love pear pendants personally and wouldn't get any other cut but round for studs, and own an asscher engagement ring. LOL.

I think you can get her whatever pendant you want down the line. Just concentrate on studs... and don't go borrowing trouble about the pendant till it's time to buy one.

Hmm... I like asschers in rings but I don't think I'd want one in a pendant. No particular reason, just personal preference.

I have an asscher for my ring. And with the color and clarity requirements and the spread you get with asschers, I wouldn't buy one unless I had a large budget. A pear is much more bang for buck and so is a round (especially as you don't need a superideal for a pendant).

Agreed...rounds for the studs and either round, pear, or maybe cushion for the pendant later. But I'd probably go for rounds for studs and the pendant just because I am not sure I'd mix three different shapes.

Round or pear. The pear shape echoes the round, but has that elegant elongating effect - IMHO it's a terrific pendant shape!
