I always like rounds, because the awful bow tie shading is eliminated. Oval is my least favorite shape, but it’s so often used, that you cannot avoid them if you’re a collector.

It depends on the gent ring setting IMHO.

For Gypsy set, both round or oval stone would look nice.

For bracelet, round or oval set East-West would look nice.

Personal preferences and all that.

Garnet is too soft -- especially for bracelet and extra especially for a man's bracelet, imo. They bang on everything. Fine for a seldom-worn ring, of course, but even then I think it's a suboptimal choice for a dominant-hand ring.

A bracelet is a lot of gold (read: money) so I would not design one around a $300 gem. Get a golden-brown chrysoberyl like we did. Can find a very saturated, very gemmy one for not a ton of money (more than rhodolite, though) and it's quite hard. I think it's the best bet if spinel, alex, and corundum are not in the budget -- a bracelet-sized one of those would be spendy.

Can explain me
What type of garnet is expensive?
In some site Demantoid other Tsavorite

Demantoid in general is more expensive than tsavorite
