I am working with a budget of $15k for a center stone and $3k for a HW inspired cushion halo (don't love a round halo). I am torned between a round diamond or cushion cut diamond, but I know I want icy white, no warm in the diamond body color therefore I will stick with E or D, excellent cut. Could you please help me deciding? I like the sparkles of the RB but love the pillowy shape of a cushion.
Thank u!!!

Found a round. Is this one a keeper?

I love cushion diamonds! That was the shape I had wanted for my e-ring but was deterred as round are suppose to be more optically supreme in reflecting light.

I will eventually get a cushion cut though - they are too cute and eye-pleasing!

Good luck with your search!

Thanks Chrono. I didn't know it exists. I emailed GOG and wonder if I would get a bigger RB or this in the same price point?

You are more likely to be able to buy a bigger RB for the same amount of money.

Is it for you, or for someone else?

FYI, F will be icy white as well.

The IS on that stone is showing leakage. You have a great budget.

If the wearer is someone other than you, then I suggest you buy the stone shape they want.

Hi Gypsy, it's for me. I lost my ring last Oct :( Where do I see the leakage? Should I take a pass on this? It's on a courtesy hold.

Also the HCA on that stone is 1.8 ex, ex, ex, vg

There is no leakage on that IS. Do not eliminate it.

Cushion vs round is purely your choice. Personally, I prefer HW halo's with cushions.

Me too! I love the HW cushion halo, but not sure of the center stone. I'd like to be biggest possible (who isn't :) but with the sparkles of the RB, so that's my dilemma between the two shapes.

There is a very small amount of leakage: https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/firescope-idealscope

If there wasn't all the red would be the same color. There is pink under the table. That is leakage. So it's a matter of amount. Do I think it is a lot? No. But I do believe that buyers should be educated and make their own decisions.

Is it enough to eliminate the stone? That's up to you. For many, as you can see, it is not enough to eliminate the stone from contention.

I don't have an opinion one way or another.

Thank you for the pointer Gypsy! I now see what you mean and appreciate the input. It's the best one I can find so far, considering size, color, and price (its not a small amount) so I will need to do more thinking about it.

The round stone is 7.5mm E SI1

The round stone is 7.5mm E SI1

For the same price will a 6.9x6.8x4.7 cushion look larger or smaller IRL than a 7.5mm round?

This is just a face-up view. I would say it looks smaller. However, since the crown of a cushion may be taller, when tilted it may look bigger than a round. Also consider that you're putting it in a halo. Go for overall look.

Thanks teobdl! I had no idea such a tool exists. So will diamond inclusion appears easier to see in a cushion than round? I don't have a mind clean issue and can go down to SI clarity if it's eye lean.

I don't think you wouldn't notice inclusions any more or less in either.

My point was just that if a diamond pops up over the halo more, it looks bigger when viewing it from the side than one that is shorter. The height of a round diamond is pretty predictable, but it is less predictable on cushions.

All that said, they're both nicely sized. It should be about shape at this point.
