round diamond stud earrings

I would very much like a pair of round diamond earring studs. The more I read the more confused I become. Reality has hit and since I don't have a big budget, maybe I don't have to get so technical. My main 2 concerns are cut and size. I want them to sparkle and I would like a half way decent size. My budget is around $500.00. Any advice on the 4 c's would be great.

Stick with the best cut for the most sparkle, it''s safe to go down to a J in an ideal cut stone for earrings, and just get something that is eyeclean, otherwise clarity doesn''t matter much.

Well you have various options, you are right that cut is very important for a good looking stone, in earrings you can lower the colour and clarity comfortably usually to get the most bang for the buck - suggest SI clarity and I or J colour to begin with ( GIA/ AGS graded).

You could get some preset studs like Ready set to Go from www.whiteflash.com or alternatively, we could help you choose some loose diamonds which could be set in a white or yellow gold setting to keep the costs down? Also if you are open to the idea, sometimes I1 clarity if reliably graded and well cut can be an option for earrings, Wink Jones sometimes has some clean to ' eyecleanish' I1 of excellent cut - www.winkjones.com

If you''re going for size I''d look someplace like bluenile, gold 1/3 carat for $400 or 1/2 for $600, or drop down in colour and clarity.

Lorelei gives good advice. I also noticed recently that Wink Jones has a gift with purchase (gas card I think) with his earring and pendants for Christmas. I don't know if he has anything that might fit your specs/budget, but I would check it out!

You just have to learn all you can about good cut and then go out and look around and price shop...unless you happen to live in a big metro area and then someone here might have an idea of a good place.

Ronnie, you can find nice diamond studs locally but you''ll probably have to look at every pair in town. I would search online for something in IJK color and lower clarity in a well cut diamond. You can get 1/2 ct. online for around $600 in 18KG - maybe if you can find someone that will have them in 14KG you can get them in your budget.

I just got some round bezel studs from I.D. Jewelry (they''re listed in the vendor section I think) and I couldn''t be happier. The price was really great... 1/2 carat for $525.00 and they have the special backs like the le pousette. The man who helped me hand selected the stones for me. The cut is really good and they are SI clarity and I think F/G color. Defintely call them up and ask for Yekutiel!

Some of the online vendors have a store; check to see if any are in your area, not sure where you are located but check out the vendor listing.
