Even a certified stone can have an error of 1 to 2 grades on the clarity;

I didn''t really think that the clarity grades would be off, but VS2 can have different kinds of inclusions. For example, if one has inclusions right under the table, and the other has them over to the side, then that might be preferable. One might have feathers and the other might have a carbon spot. I just think you need to know more than the numebrs on a cert when looking at a VS2 or lower clarity stone. The numbers are only one factor to consider.

I''m would hope a VS2 is eyeclean, but surely we''d all want to see both certs and the inclusion plots before deciding, right?
ETA: I mean when the numbers on both stones are good, you look farther than that to determine which one to buy.
Well, Mr. Pearlman is so highly regarded that I wouldn't worry. Plus I assume you could still send it back in the unlikely event you weren't totally in love with it for any reason, right? (You know that I am just clarity sensitive because I currently have an SI2 and am unhappy with that. So just know that when I post about clarity!Date: 7/11/2006 2:41:25 PM

yes you are right. I actually still have not seen the inclusion plot on my stone, nor the stone itself and am relying completely on the vendor's eyes. but in most circumstances this would be true.
gothgrrl, have you seen the stones in person??
Can''t blame you. I have a D Emerald cut, it''s very pretty.Date: 7/11/2006 3:05:00 PM

Thanks for all the help. These are from WF. The first diamond is a ES and the second is an ACA. Both look eye-clean. They both look nice. I know the color is high, but I would like to have one diamond with a high color.![]()
Yes, the ES would be a great value. But just to be sure, have them look at both and give you their opinion, couldn''t hurt.Date: 7/11/2006 5:48:08 PM

Oooo...Ellen...would love to see pics of that emerald. My RHR is an emerald.
Anyhow, I am leaning more towards Diamond 1. It''s from their ES. Plus the ACA is much, much more. Hmmm....decisions, decisions.![]()
My choice based solely on numbers would be #2.Date: 7/11/2006 2:38:13 PM

I always thought VS2 was eye clean, but I''ve read on here more than once that sometimes they''re not.

I would be very surprised to find AGS or GIA off 1-2 clarity gradesthat would be very bad business for either of them..it''s known that EGL grades a little softer but they say EGL USA is getting better..![]()
