Hello,

My fiancee and I spent the better part of the weekend visiting jewellers and doing research on diamonds. She originally wanted a cushion cut, but we learned that the cushion adds weight in areas that aren''t noticeable. We pretty much decided that we want a Round Brilliant now and I was wondering who you guys would recommend as vendors? I think we have a fairly limited budget ($10k) for what we would like to get and are looking for a vendor with whom we can really get a steep discount. In terms of specs, we''re thinking of a ~1.5-2 carat, Ideal Cut, as colorless as possible, clean to the naked eye clarity diamond. I know this is a basic question that everyone is interested in, but what would you recommend in terms of really getting the most for your money? Also, is it true tht cut is the most essential component (even over clarity) in terms of generating brilliance?

Best Regards,

Chris

F SI1, but I don't think you can get for 10K. I think you might have to go into H and/or SI2.

Clarity doesn't really affect brilliance unless it's really bad. How much of the stone is included, in %, really, of an eye-clean stone?

Hi Chris,

Goodoldgold

Whiteflash

James Allen

just to name a few.

That is a tall order. I''ve tried to find a few, but you''ll need to drop, even more I think than Julie suggested, to get that big. H in a well cut stone still faces up very white. If you want higher color, you''ll need to go down is size, unfortunately. And yes, CUT rules above all else.

Yes, cut is the most important. You''re going to have to go down in color or size to stay within your 10k budget.
