Hi Guys,

I have a Rough Diamond that I need to cut, polish and then sell...

The diamond is in the Gulf area but not in Dubai. There are no cutters or polishers here. So, I guess I do need some help to locate or get ahold of someone who knows how to cut and ploish.

other ideas are welcomed and private messages are welcomed as well...

hi friend

what size and what shape do y have can email me the details

Post a pic if you please.

We get many pictures of the final product and few of the stone as God made it!

Thank you, but no thanks.

First, do you have the necessary paperwork to prove that your rough diamond is from a legitimate source.

Then, do you have the necessary gemmological knowledge to establish that this really is diamond.

Finally, if you want to cut and sell it, good luck to you. I do not want to be involved. Because as an amateur, in the end, you will be disappointed, and I do not want to be blamed for your ignorance.

Sorry if this sounded harsh.

Live long,

mz305,

The problem is that people seem to believe that there is a profit to be made in the transaction you're describing. This quite simply isn't the case. Cutters like Paul get asked this question often and they get frustrated at having to give the same answer again and again to people who are predisposed not to believe what they're told.

You will almost certainly come out better if you sell the stone as an interesting rock than by trying to convert it into a gemstone. The costs and risks associated with what you are proposing are substantial and it's an extremely competitive business. Your chances of coming out of this with a profit are quite low. This is the reason that someone chose to sell you a stone in it's current form rather than having it cut themselves.
