We are currently building a home in Fountain Hills AZ and our lot is adjacent to the McDowall mountains.

A week ago we found chips of rose quartz but this week hubby found a large specimen on the other side of a retaining wall.

How cool is this? I might take a smaller piece to a local lapidary to get it polished.

That is super cool! The huge specimen is gorgeous and I would totally display it, but I'm with you -- it would be lovely to also have a small polished piece. Congrats on the find!

Pretty color...very cool!

Yes! Absolutely polish, what a cool story and what a beautiful decoration!

Wow cool! I believe rose quartz is the state rock of South Dakota. We got one when we visited Crazyhorse and it is now beautiful yard art.

@cflutist, It’s beautiful!! Thank you so much for posting this today. I know this is going to sound crazy but you made my month.. Your photos brought back really happy memories. Thank you so much Cheryl. Have fun with the new home.

For this small amount and personal use I would not bother but....
Check your deed, if you do not have mineral rights you do not own them. Whoever owns the mineral rights owns them.

They are mega kewl!

I love this! What a cool thing to find!

I went to fountain hills once when visiting my sister and that day it was too windy for the fountain to go off. I think we stayed 2 hrs waiting.
