OK, they don't exist! Well barely, anyway! I looked everywhere for a rose gold scatter ring (sometimes known as a zig-zag ring) and had such trouble finding one that E.B. Horn in Boston is making one for me.

It has been a journey.

Two well-respected Pricescope vendors do scatter rings so I contacted them. The first told me that they don't work with rose gold as the hue is unreliable. It was a pity as I liked their yellow gold scatter ring. Price was $695 for 4mm and .20ctw.

The second Pricescope vendor has 5mm scatter rings for $1090 in rose gold, again ctw of 0.20. So I'm thinking, Excellent! They can make me a 4mm one easily in rose gold, since they do exactly what I want in 5mm rose. However, when I contacted them I was told I could not have 0.20ctw, only .10tcw which is much smaller than I wanted. The reason? They said that on 4mm, the diamonds would have to be that small in order to create a true scatter effect. I was very surprised! I said that the other vendor, (mentioning no names) had images of both a 3mm and a 4mm with ten 0.02 diamonds and they looked fine. The kicker? The vendor wanted $795 for a 4mm ring with a mere 0.10tcw, when every other place I looked at charges in the region of $695 for TWICE the diamond weight, 0.20tcw. I explained that even with the extra cost of custom, I hardly wanted to pay $795 for half the weight of diamonds I can get in the same ring for $695 elsewhere. I was told, "OK, have a good day!"

Very odd!!! Anyway, no matter.

I had also asked Blue Nile for a quote, as they do a scatter ring in platinum. But the quote was four days late and I thought they'd forgotten about it. By the time their quote came in, I was working with E.B. Horn. (BTW I also looked at Gemvara, which has lots of rose gold options but again not exactly what I wanted.)

The deal I got with E.B. Horn is as follows: $640 for a 4mm rose gold scatter ring, brushed matte finish to make the diamonds pop, and then diamonds of .26tcw, so each diamond is 0.026, which I'm very happy about as they're a little bigger than any of the other options available anywhere.

I'll have to reserve judgment as the ring isn't here yet - it'll take about ten days. I'm excited though.

Who would ever have thought that finding a mere 4mm scatter ring in rose gold would be so difficult?? Lots places do thin rose gold bands with a line of about 5 diamonds, but a finding a wider scatter ring in rose is more of a challenge than you might imagine!!

Sounds fantastic.

Etienne Perret also does rose gold and you can select however many diamonds and width you want as well.

Thanks for the tip, D&T! I might well have to have one of those babies someday! I searched and searched online for starlight bands, zigzag bands, scatter bands, and this never came up in any search I did. I'm very grateful!

However, I just replicated my band and it would have cost $1848!!!! That's for a 4mm band with 0.20tcw. These guys are expensive!!!

They are gorgeous bands... there is a gal on here that has a band from him (I can't remember her name though)... on my wish list for a colorful rainbow of diamond scatter band from Etienne. He's a super really nice guy to chat with you, if you have the opportunity to work with him. I've been mulling over for quite sometime on whether I want a 5mm and how many diamonds I want and whether matte or polished? or not...lol so I've been putting this off for years now

I can't wait to see yours. The matte finish is just divine especially great for making those diamond pop!

I'm super-gateful to you for posting the link. It's great fun to mess around with these applications, building rings and dreaming! Gemvara is good for that, too!

I will indeed post pics of my ring! Have to wait till December though, when I can see my parents and get my hands on their good camera!
Then I will post lots of pics of the Smith Jewels! My jewelry is mostly very small. I'm English (married to a U.S.-born British man and we are living in the US) and I do think over there we tend towards much smaller jewelry, for whatever reason. The jewelry throughout North and South America, and the Caribbean, is very big, to me! My things are more like Kate Middleton's jewelry - very delicate.

OK, so the rose-gold scatter-ring journey turned out to be even longer than I'd anticipated...having put the order in with E.B. Horn in Boston on Nov 8th, it only came in on Friday! They told me it would take 10 days, so it was seriously late. I think they forgot about my order.

So I'm not impressed about that - but anyway, they're forgiven because the ring is absolutely stunning. It's exactly what I wanted.

I tried to get one custom made with BGD and with Whiteflash, but no joy. This is a pity because I've heard a lot of good things about their melee here, so I was interested in both. Whiteflash said no to working with rose gold period, and BGD gave me what I considered to be a bad offer in the context of what other vendors could offer. (BGD has a rose gold scatter ring on their website, 5mm with 0.20 ctw. I was delighted because I wanted the same with a slight adjustment - I wanted 4mm. Customer service told me I could have 4mm but I could not have 0.20 ctw, only .10 ctw. They said that with 4mm only diamonds of 0.01 would give a true scatter effect. The price was $795 for 4mm and 0.10 ctw. Now, WF does a 4mm scatter ring with 0.20 ctw for $695, and Apples of Gold has a 4mm scatter ring with 0.28 ctw for $675. I told BGD this and said the scatter effect was just fine! I explained to BGD that I hardly wanted to pay $795 when I can get DOUBLE the weight of diamonds for less money elsewhere, but they wouldn't budge. It was 0.10 ctw for $795 or on yer bike! So that was no good.) This was my first experience with WF and BGD, and I must admit to being a little disappointed in both. Other jewellers manage to work with rose gold and its hue challenges, so I can't see why WF can't manage it, and BGD's wanting more money for HALF the ctw I can get elsewhere for less money was seriously cheeky, in my opinion. I told the salesperson straight out that this was a bad offer in the context of comparable products and that I was very unimpressed with the offer, and they thanked me for my feedback - while making no move to improve the offer! So of course I trotted off elsewhere with my business. It was a pity as I quite fancied their melee.

But it's all worked out brilliantly, because I've ended up with this beautiful ring from E.B. Horn: 0.26 ctw, 13 diamonds instead of WF and BGD's 10, diamonds are F/G and very sparkly, ring is substantial - thick, heavy gold, lovely comfort fit - and it cost $640! I'm used to thinking that online is cheaper, but I'm impressed with this store's competitive pricing. I had really wanted to use WF or BGD but now I'm thinking that it's quite nice to give business to a local jeweller, especially one like E.B. Horn which has been around since 1839 and is located in a place where the stores around it are dropping like flies. Use it or lose it! I might order another scatter ring from them in platinum.

I decided to have a brushed matte finish to really make the diamonds pop. I know rose gold hues vary, but mine ended up a delicate rose pink which suits my pale skin tone really well. I am seeing my parents later this week and will use their super-duper camera to take some close-ups.

It's always nerve-wracking ordering a custom product because there's no returning it, and I can't believe how well this project has worked out. I am so, so happy with the ring - it's just what I wanted. And it's so nice to have 13 diamonds scattered around the band instead of the 10 at other places.

It has been so much trouble to get this ring, and having to have it custom made as well - at least I know that rose gold scatter rings are relatively uncommon and that therefore, not many people have a ring like mine!!

Will post pics as soon as I can!
