So i'm pretty decided i'd like to use Rose gold for my engagement ring, so total WG ring is out.

I've read articles saying a RG setting helps white diamonds appear whiter, and really pop, with some WG as a base to contrast again.
However, most i've seen, including BG's, are mostly a white setting on a RG band.

Which do you think would look best, and help bring out the most in a round brilliant you think?

You want the white (gold or platinum) head because the prong tips are going to reflect in the diamond and the white will be best for a white diamond. People often use yellow gold prongs for a yellow diamond and some colored stones when the desire is to accentuate the yellow. Rose/pink gold is often used with pink diamonds for the same reason.

Be sure you look at differences between 14k and 18k rose gold for the band (shank). I like the richness of the 18k better personally.

Hello,
Look on Leon Mege site under micropave rings for sale. Lovely emerald cut on pave pink gold band. Very pretty, nice diamond-$8500.
Good luck!

unfortunately after discussing with my jeweler, a rose/white gold mix would be tough as the crown and shank are one solid piece and not separated like some other designs that do it separately.
and forcing 2 together makes it disjointed.. so i'm keeping an all rose gold ring including the prongs.

I still think it'd look great, even though no one voted for that!! we'll see after it's done!

Good luck.....I love rose gold and cannot wait to see it!

Can you show us a picture of the setting?

I can't wait to see it! I have a RG diamond ring and I LOVE IT! The basket and prongs are platinum.

Well, that is a beautiful ring and I see now why it can't be rose gold with a platinum head. I hope your jeweler has an outstanding bench, because I would want the ring to look as good as the Sholdt!

i made sure to check out some of his milgrain work to assure myself.. i was quite impressed.. uniform, neat, clean graining. He cut diamond for 10years and has been recreating these designs in his own shop for 23 years. i feel safe enough. for now.. haha

I think the rose gold would lend the ring even more old world charm that's why ultimately i went for that.

Ok.. so no one voted full RG, but well I went with it anyway... =)

here's the completed ring. What do you think?
Be nice... hahaha

Very nice!

Have you chosen a band as well? Do you have any photos of both?

ETA just read your other thread - I definitely think you made the right choice by keeping the milgrain, it's a subtle touch but it really adds to the vintage-y feel in your photos, and I assume does a good job of blurring the demarcation between metal and diamond melee on the shank IRL :sun:
