i don''t think anyone really looks forward to it but having done it, i can tell you it''s not so bad. if you have an active infection, it will hurt but most docs will put you on antibiotics for a few days if they even think there is a remote possibility of infection. i didn''t think it was any worse than getting a filling.
I had one a few months ago...unexpectedly. I needed a crown and when I went in for the procedure...apparently the trauma of having the crown done made my tooth decide to DIE and for the next week it started dying. That was painful. So having the crown procedure actually caused me to need the root canal (which apparently happens only 1% of the time...lucky me!). Anyway, in all honesty, the root canal was a piece of CAKE. I''m more freaked out by crowns now (obviously). Make sure a good endodontist does it...it makes a huge difference from what I hear. My endodontist rocked and the RC was a walk in the park. Blissfully better in my book than having the crown done.
