Hello
I would appreciate some input on the following stone+setting combo.
Intend on buying from BlueNile.

Ideal-cut, H-colour, VS2-clarity, Round, 1.52-carat Diamond $13,900
Petite Trellis Pavé Diamond Engagement Ring in Platinum $1,850
Total pretax cost = $15,750

The ring would be made for her in finger size 7

Sample "recently purchased" pic from BlueNile of a similar setup except diamond size is 1.57-carat below

Any input is greatly appreciated :)

not sure how I feel about the medium blue fluorescence and also the GIA report for that one shows that it has quite a few more imperfections
I've only seen in real life about 5-6 stones and decided it has to be 1.25-1.5c and at least H color - and because I will be ordering online I'm pretty set on VS2 (as it "promises" to be eye clean)

Have you tried the HCA tool?

https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca

Seems like the HCA evaluation for this particular diamond isn't that great:

Selected: 62% depth, 58% table, 34.5° crown angle, 41.2° pavilion angle
The result is for a symmetrical diamond with a medium girdle and very good polish
HCA scores were adjusted Dec. 15, 2001 and Feb. 6, 2003.

Factor Grade
Light Return Very Good
Fire Good
Scintillation Good
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 3.4 - Very Good - Worth buying if the price is right

Thats a lot of money for a stone that only rates very good/good on HCA. Pavilion angle is too high and will probably show
some leakage. I would keep looking and try to get the best stone for you money.

This is lower color/clarity but it is an H&A stone with a very nice cut. It has been rated AGS O for light performance.

Edit ...here is another stone that would be nice

Have you looked at the color video by GOG? I'll post it in case you havent.

BTW...I do like the setting you picked.

EDIT - more stones. Unfortunately it looks like your budget is in the I color range .
