check out the difference between these two rings, both Ritani, both a three-stone princess (the only difference is that the one of the left had a plain shank and the one on the right has a pave shank)

the one on the left was my reset that i returned because i felt the design was off from what i expected. the one on the right belongs to yellowcrayon that she posted in her thread https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/ritani-e-ring-and-wedding-band.83031/ hers is perfect - exactly what i had been expecting to receieve based on the one i saw in the store and the wax from ritani that i was emailed a photo of by my vendor. does anyone know why or how the same ring (essentially) by the same designer could vary so much in the quality of its output?

yellowcrayon - i hope you don''t mind my pulling a photo and posting your thread. your ring is so GORGEOUS; i don''t know how i missed it!!!

Do you think it is a change in quality, or possibly a change in design instead?

hi :)

i don''t believe it was a change in design. i was provided a photo of the mold and it looked like yellowcrayon''s. i never quite understood how my ring went from the mold i saw to the ring i received. seeing yellowcrayon''s i am even more confused as her ring shows me that what i expected could have been achieved.

i am not sure if you can see it in the photo, but the edges on mine were also rough - the point on the v shaped bar in the middle appeared as though someone twisted the metal off. yellowcrayon''s is very clean and precise. there was another poster who also got a similar ring for her emerald stone and hers looked like yellowcrayon''s as well (i didn''t post hers because of the difference in stones but now i see some relevance).

rainy, maybe ask a vendor who carries Ritani why there was such a difference? When you returned the Ritani you got, did they say why it wasn''t like others you''d seen?

hi mrssalvo!

i did email the vendor i worked with asking him about this, but he has not responded. i understand that he is busy with current customers and they are his priority. i have thought of maybe asking bill pearlman since he knows ritani so well, but wonder if i should bother him. i figured it couldn''t hurt to post it here... maybe i can put my curiosity to rest and if it helps someone else at the same time, all the better.

at the time i tried very had to get an answer and understand the reason for the discrepancy (so it could be redone and he could keep the sale and i could keep the ring), but conversations with my vendor were hurried and uninformative. i remember feeling like he was too busy to really pay attention to it or to hear me. my DH finally spoke with him and slowed the conversation down, and it was then that he offered that Ritani had mistakenly provided the mold for RBs, not PCs. however, that only explained why there was a V under the culet on the mold and not on my ring. when we asked about the other discrepancies, he didn''t know what i was referring to (despite my anal email). the reason i ended up returning the ring was because i was not getting a response that inspired confidence that going forward the ring would look like yellowcrayon''s. seeing hers made my curiosity resurface and confirmed i wasn''t wrong to expect something other than what i got. if ritani''s product were more consistent, they would have had another very happy customer and vendor!

well, if you''re really curious and since you posted a thread here i''m guessing you are

I''d email Bill P and ask. I''m sure he''d be able to at least give you an idea as to why the difference. I know he has a long standing relationship with them so if anyone could help you, it would be him.
