Well, it''s the end of an era. Anyone from Detroit or any baseball fan would know the name Ernie Harwell. He was the Tiger''s announcer for (it seems like) forever. He passed away last night from a long battle with cancer. He was 92 years old. I remember being a little girl and listening to him call Tigers games, sitting with my dad on the couch (or in my dad''s truck). Anyone else have fond memories of Mr Harwell?

Yes, I also have very fond memories of listening to Ernie Harwell on the radio with my dad as a little girl. He will be greatly missed. Listening to the games hasn''t been the same since he retired. I am glad that he was honored while he was still alive and I hope he knew what a legend he was here in Detroit. DH worked at TS and CP doing scoreboard stuff and had many interactions with Mr Harwell and he''s taking it pretty hard. RIP Ernie!

I''m really going to miss him. He was a great guy.
