Hey,
I know its a lil dorky, and I''m sure I''m not the first to come across it, but I found this ring sizing tool I thought was pretty cool. http://www.overstock.com/ringsize.html

I live o''seas and our system is different to the US, so I thought this could be useful to others -
(or it might just be some entertainment for 5 mins!)

Hey there! Don''t rely on those things!!! Yes, it will give you an idea, but I tried it and it gave me 6-6.25 and my ering is 5.25 and is perfect. I even checked the mm measurement with a ruler like it said to. I think it''s a good guide it you have no clue about your size though.

Heehee, I think you''d be better off going to your jeweler and getting one of those take-home plastic ring sizers. But this guide coud be awfully fun for home use..thanks for posting!

e-weddingbands.com sent me their set of blue plastic ring sizers for free. You pop the rings out and you have a bunch of free blue plastic rings!

Seriously though I agree with honey22 and monarch64.

Right, and the thing with those is you can experiment with temp changes and environmental changes as you wish...more "real life" than trying on metal bands in a jewelry store.

I agree w/this. My ring does not fit properly because my finger was not measured right.

Oh, okay...(walks away sheepishly

just kidding

Honey, a question from a fellow aussie- did you find much discrepancy between US and our sizing? Why I ask is my middle finger on my RH, has been sized a couple times as an N, which I was told translates to a 6. However, it seems any different one of these ring charts i see, its correlated to anywhere up to a 6.5 ??
Did you have these same issues?

To other posters - I wish that someone would give me these plastic ones - sounds great! you should see the dramas i encounter just getting a jeweller to measure me with their metal set!

Awwwww! Come back sweetie

I am not sure about the ring size conversion thing. It''s a long story, but basically - I wear a size L on my ring finger, but it''s too big. I checked my AUS size a few times and most of the time I was a K (5.25), but sometimes it was too tight to push over my knuckle, but if it were my ring, I would have tried anyway, but I didn''t want to get really expensive rings stuck on my finger and not be able to take them off. I also tried sizing rings, the thicker they are the bigger size you will need to fit, so make sure if you try them you get the smaller thinner ones some places have. This was important to me cause I wanted a 2mm band. So in the end, I went with a K which I converted online to a 5.25. It''s tight over my knuckles (I have rheumatoid arthritis and sometimes they swell), and not super easy to get off, but it fits perfect on my finger, and actually has room for heat expansion, wedding band etc. As I was only allowed to try it on briefly, I first thought I would need it resized, but after wearing it for an hour during my ''photo-shoot'', I realised that it would be too big if I went up, so I don''t really mind that it''s tight over my knuckles - anyway, I have waited nearly 12 years to wear the damn thing, it''s not coming off very often!!!!!!!!!

I believe if you call the vendor who is making your setting, they can send you out some sizing rings? I basically just looked up lots of conversion sites, and took a general average (only a few sites had different sizes listed). If you see 4 or 5 and only one is different, I guess you can discount that one.

Good luck!

Really? What happened? I actually walked into a jeweller, talked to them as if I was interested, and had them measure my size

Do you think you can try this?

My friend has used the print out sizer thing, and his ring came out to big, and his wife's ring came out so small that she can't wear it.

Hey Honey, thankyou for ur detailed reply! I think your right, I''ll just try to take the average from the ring charts. My ring finger on my left is 3.5 to 4, so I thought 6 on my middle right sounded ok...
So did you actually have the US vendors send you the sizer rings, or did you get those in aust?

Choro, the thing with the jewelers where I live, If you go in there and you aren''t buying/haven''t bought from them - well lets just say they wouldn''t even put you out if u were on fire!

I''m actually starting to worry if I''ll be able to get my rings cleaned/replated without paying a fortune!

I did manage to get one or two to measure me by acting like I wanted custom made, but I also had a few responses of "oh ur size doesn''t matter as we''ll just make sure it fits perfectly"...Huh?

Anyway, I''m probably over thinking the whole thing a lil!

when in doubt take a ring that fits just right and measure the inside diameter with a caliper.
Some jewelers have em but if not any machinist and most car mechanics should have one or if you know anyone that reloads ammo they should have one.
Then give the measurements in mm or inches(specify) too your vendor and ask they check it before shipping.

Hey, just had a look at the e-weddingbannds that Imdanny was talking about, and if you are overseas you can get them for the grand sum of $5 (to cover shipping). So you could just do that, in fact I think I will be ordering them for myself today!

I didn''t have ring sizers sent to me. I just went to several B&M stores when looking for setting ideas. I made the SA write down details on a card so ''my BF can come in and suprise me''. They were more than happy to check my ring size and write that down to, as they were expecting my BF to come back in any day and pick up the ring I had chosen. Ok, so it was a little fib, but that way I didn''t feel totally uncomfortable trying on rings I had no intention of buying (I had already decided to purchase from WF if a stone became available). I found only one jeweller with a set of thin sizers, the thick ones are too hard to get onto your finger properly, and gives you a wrong idea of size, especially when you are looking for a thin band, which you can get away with a little tighter anway.

This is it:
