ring resizing question

I have a ring that is platinum rhodium over sterling silver. Yes I know it''s not that expensive, but extremely sentimental. It is just a tad too large. I''ve tried the little plastic ring snuggies, but they drive me crazy. Does anyone know what I can do to have it resized. No jeweler that I know of will touch it.

Have your jewelers told you why they won''t resize the ring?

They said that the ring will be ruined if I try to resize it. The jewler said that the ring will blacken. I don''t even know if that is true. I think they won''t do it because it isn''t gold.

It could be a valid reason hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge will be able to confirm

I think resizing will ruin the plating. Could the jeweler put in a bridge or sizing bumps for you?
