Hey everyone,

I just reserved an engagement ring for my girlfriend of 5+ years, and I'd some feedback on it. I really want to get her a BG Blue diamond, and I've been checking the site daily for months now. It seems like they are hard to come by. This diamond is eye clean and seems to fit the bill. I'd like to keep it under 20k total. Should I pull the trigger or wait for something better to come up? My girlfriend likes halos and a dainty band so I went with the Sarah Halo. Her ring size is 3.75. I am all about value, and I would like to get the best bang for my buck. Ideally, I'd save a little bit if the diamond was just under the magic number of 1.5 carats right? I want to propose in 2-3 months, but I'm afraid of buying a ring this early and holding onto it after the return policy is up. Thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

I completely agree with Gypsy. But either way Im positive she will completely love it! Please come back to show us,

Thanks for the advice! I'm waiting on a quote on the Emilya from Victor Canera. It looks amazing. Depending on how much it is, I'm probably going to go with the Emilya.

My concern now is the diamond. Should I stick with the BG Blue or wait for something better to come up? I like the idea of a BG Blue and an Emilya though, I think she'll love it. 1.513 carats and a 3.75 finger size should be good enough I hope.

I have personally dealt with both of these vendors and highly recommend them. I bought my first diamond and setting from BGD then recently upgraded the diamond and got the VC emilya halo. The stones are amazing as is the emilya.
I think that stone looks beautiful and it is stong blue so its definitely seems to suit what your after, so I say go for it. As you have said yourself they are hard to come by. But I would definitely get the VC emilya halo if it fits into your budget...its honestly gorgeous!!
Let us know what you decide and please come back and share your pics when the ring is completed.

Get the BGD Blue. Absolutely. Just insure it before you send it to Victor. And we can walk you through that. ;))

wonderful selections and it's gonna look huge on her little finger! Ritani halos are about $2.5K but if the BGD Sara was ok, definitely go VC emilya.

I have the diamond, and it looks amazing. I love it. I received my quote from Victor Canera, and I'm about ready to ship it. I did a quick search on shipping diamonds, and it looks like the best way is to ship through USPS registered mail using paper tape and a couple boxes. Am I missing anything? I appreciate all the help and advice. Can't wait to get this done and take pictures. I have the proposal somewhat planned out, but it won't be for another 2 months. Thanks!

Awesome! That stone looked lovely on the site; glad to hear it holds up in person too. Can't wait to hear how it goes with the setting. As far as packaging, I've only received stuff and never sent it. But wrapping it in a few pieces of paper (like heavier wax or tissue paper) so they overlap isn't a bad idea, before getting to the outer "layers." :wavey:
