I have a sentimental, but relatively cheap/small, solitare engagement ring and want to make it look less "wedding-y" for a right hand ring.
I'm looking for a reasonably cheap ring jacket/enhancer that looks fitting for a right hand ring, either diamonds or other stone accents.
The engagement ring is a round cut soiltare engagement ring, about .20 carat I think, pretty nice cut and color, set in a "illusion" sterling silver setting on a 14k yellow gold band. Size 8 band, so it's a bit "dainty" on my hands. The setting is fine-- very plain, but I'm not wearing it as an engagement ring.
It was my grandma's replacement engagement ring, so it's reasonably vintage but not antique with a cool filigree setting. Not attached to the setting.
I don't really want to get it reset just because of pricing. The solitare stone is worth probably a few hundred or less, and having custom work to reset the solitare into a right hand ring would probably be a bit much, especially in comparison to the cost of the ring. I want to wear it as a right hand ring that I can enjoy and look less wedding-y, but also not spend a ton to do so. I'm not really into small diamond pendent necklaces-- it's a small stone, and that would probably look weird on my neck. I prefer larger necklaces anyway. I don't want to get a matching stone and make it earrings since I wouldn't want to lose it. It seems like a ring guard/jacket is the cheapest, easiest way.
I can't seem to find a ring jacket/guard that I like that looks good with a smallish stone and that doesn't look even more wedding-ish.
A channel band of diamonds on the top and the bottom of the ring would just make it look more like an engagement ring. I'm looking for some kind of design, maybe a flower shape around the solitare, or something. I want to make the whole set look RHR-like.
Any ideas on where to look for a ring guard/jacket that isn't a channel band or something that looks very wedding-like?
