Yes I know there is an active insurance thread moving right along now but I didn''t want to steal the show and this is also a little different. I searched the forum and came up with like three different insurance companies but when calling each of them they didn''t want to insure me because

A. I don''t already have some form of insurance with them already.
B. I don''t meet the criteria for it, (Chubb states you must have a security system that has a datalink to the police)

So I have run out of the options that I know. I don''t have renters insurance but I am looking into that. I also want the type of insurance that just pays the amount you have insured so I don''t have to deal with them deciding what ring I would get if something were to ever happen. Can you suggest any options where those criteria above don''t have to be met. Thank you. David

The Chubb story is interesting. There seems to be a disconnect between the various agents and their understanding of company-wide policies. Depending on the agent you talk to, it seems as if you can get a different answer each time. I insured through Chubb and it went as smooth as can be. I worked with a lady named Alice: [email protected] who should be able to help you. Hope this helps!

Thank you very much, I am going to contact her right now and see what she has to say. Thanks

I had no other policies with Chubb and I am not a homeowner. I have renters insurance with somebody else. I do not have my jewels insured under my renters policy becuase the rider was not specific enough and did not cover enough risk, financially or for reimbursement/replacement. I never heard anything about having to have a security system for getting Chubb insurance! Are you trying to insure a van Gogh! Call LLoyds - for the rest of us a good all - risk policy should be sufficient to protect our lovelies. There does seem to be a big discrepency between Chubb agents - go to their website and pop in your zip code to get a (long) list of agents in your area. Call them all until you get someone you can work with. If you feel you do not need all that coverage, talk to your agent for renter's insurance to put a jewlery rider on the contract. Good Luck!
