Hi! This is my first time posting, I know if anyone can help, its PSers!
I hope I can explain this well... I just got my diamond reset (just changed the head). It was a VERY high 6 prong, and now is VERY low 4 (small) prong. This has dramatically reduced the visual size of my diamond! I know 6 prongs and setting high make a stone look bigger, but I''m not a huge fan of either...
I love antique styles and wonder if something like this exists/could work: a thin milligrain bezel-type, but the diamond is slightly above with prongs (but you can still see the "ring" around the diamond without it being flush).
Being that I just had it reset, I really don''t want to spend a lot of $$!!

I would appreciate any help/suggestions, thanks in advance!

Oh, btw, its RB 1.28ct

I am sure you could have something like that custom, but I haven''t seen any stock settings like that I would classify as cheap...do you have a budget?

I guess a budget would mean... at what price would I learn to live with what I got?

Probably around $300.. I was trying to think of something that could be stock, but minimally altered (to save$$)
thanks!

Hmmm unfortunately I really doubt you can find much in that price range...some people are having good luck with the ebay seller Lord of Gem Rings, but even his rings these days are going above that price.

Oh, I wasn''t looking to get an entirely new setting... just another head replacement (the ring isn''t the only thing that needs it!)

I should have been more clear about that!!
thanks for the input (I do like LOGs!)

I think what I''m looking for is something like this.. if the ring below the girdle were a little bigger so it would peak from under the stone (top view)
Has anyone seen anything like this/ know of a way to make it work easily? Or know of a reason why it wouldn''t work? I''m just looking to replace the head, not the entire ring!
Thanks!!!

I would ask your local jeweler...but I personally haven''t seen any heads that do that. Stuller would be where I would start looking, but a local jeweler would have to get the price for you.

I agree with Neat , I have never seen anything like what you just described. I think it would be too impractical..
What I have seen, is a bezel or halo, with prongs that rise out of it to hold the stone...
I''m also not sure of the possibilities with your budget, but a good local jeweller would be the best place to start - it will most likely be cheaper to get a whole new stock setting then to try to modify to what you are describing, imho..

here is an example of what I mean from LOGR, but clearly this is a diamond one..

were you interested in any side stones on your setting?

this is called lia4 on www.sunjewelry.com and will run you $665 for the stock setting.

Thanks for the suggestion -- I do want to keep my current setting though (the same shank at least)..
I''m looking for very subtle, thin halo-like (without diamonds) head - -just to outline the diamond. I guess almost like an illusion-type setting, but just a smooth ring to outline the circumference of the diamond. (imagine a bezel that was a couple sizes too small, so rather than sitting flush, the diamond sits on it (with prongs) and you can still see some of the bezel peaking out under the girdle)
There may be a name for this, but I can''t figure it out and I haven''t really seen it anywhere...
Anyway, I''ll probably just talk to a local jeweler to see what they can do.
I really appreciate all of the help!!

To be honest, I really can''t say I''ve ever seen something like this.. I think custom will be your best route..
